Objective:The exploration of the relationship between blood eosinophil counts and acute exacerbations in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD).To investigate whether it has relationship or not, analyze the clinical features of COPD with different levels of the peripheral blood eosinophil by comparing the differences of the different levels of the peripheral blood eosinophil on CAT score, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function as well as times of hospitalization due to acute exacerbation last year in COPD.methods:Collect the records of 41 cases of patients with COPD who hospitalized in department of respiration in the second affiliated hospital of Dalian medical university in 2016.8 to 2017.2,According to peripheral blood eosinophilia cells proportion,These AECOPD patients can be divided into three gropus :group A: peripheral eosinophil percentage < 2%,group B: 2% or less peripheral eosinophil percentage < 4%,group C:peripheral eosinophil percentage 4% or higher. All of the patients are recorded the age, sex, prolonged duration of COPD,smoking status(never smoker?ex-smoker?current smoker),measured blood eosinophil counts, underwent pulmonary function testing including FEV1%pre?FEV1/FVC%,blood gas analysis, used CAT quality of life scale to assess scores. At the same time, the times of hospitalizations due to acute exacerbation last year of 41 COPD patients should be recorded. To investigate whether it has relationship or not, analyze the clinical features of COPD with different levels of the peripheral blood eosinophil by comparing the differences of the different levels of the peripheral blood eosinophil on CAT score, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function as well as the times of hospitalization due to acute exacerbation last year in COPD.SPSS22.0 software was used for statistical analysis to processing each data.Mean ±standard deviation stands for the data accord with normal distribution.Multivariate differences between each group were compared using single factor analysis of variance(ANONA)and the chi-square test.Variance together when using LSD test, nothomogeneity, using Tamhane 's T2 test.P < 0.05 is meaningful in stastics. Results:The CAT scores of high eosinophil group(group C)are higher than that of the low level of eosinophils group(group A)values(17.5 ± 5.9 vs 11.8 ± 5.8,P < 0.05),high levels of eosinophils group(group C)is the highest in the low level of eosinophils group(group A)and high eosinophil group(group B)(P < 0.05)in The times of hospitalizations due to acute exacerbation last year. The other index like arterial blood gas analysis(Pa O2,Pa CO2),pulmonary function(FEV1%pre,FEV1/FVC%)difference between three groups are meaningless in statistics.(P> 0.05).Conclusion:The patients in the high levels of eosinophils group, who has the poor quality of life, was higher than other group in the times of hospitalizations due to acute exacerbation last year.It suggests that the higher levels of blood eosinophils are associated with increased risk of exacerbations. So the percentage of the peripheral eosinophils can be used as the simple biological indicators of predicting exacerbations of COPD.
