Objective Breast cancer is a relatively common female malignant tumor, with the natural and social environment of the ever-changing,the incidence of such tumors have increased year by year, has become one of the major malignant tumors that endanger modern women's health. As we all know, the mechanism of tumor formation is affected by a variety of factors, common influencing factors include ER(estrogen),PR(progesterone),C-erbB2(oncogene)and so on.Periostin is one of the 10 years found,Periostin is a secretory carcinoematous protein consisting of N-terminal signal peptide,cysteine-rich region, four internal homologous domains and C-terminal hydrophilic domain Composition, plays an important role in bone formation and injury repair,is named Periostin for expression in the periosteum and periodontal ligament, and was first discovered by osteoblasts in the mouse osteoblast,so it was called osteogenesis Cell-specific factor-2,renamed Periostin in order to avoid confusion with the transcription factor of the same name.Early studies at home and abroad have shown that Periostin is expressed in tumor tissues such as ovarian cancer,non-small cell lung cancer, neuroblastoma and so on,and Periostin protein is highly expressed in collagen-rich tissues such as extracellular matrix and mechanically Excited tissue repair and regeneration. The current domestic and international experimental studies have shown that Periostin gene protein or mRNA in many solid tumors are also highly expressed, such as: breast cancer, colon cancer, head and neck cancer, pancreatic cancer, thyroid cancer.Periostin's findings and in-depth studies have contributed to the advancement of clinical first-line breast cancer and have provided a new avenues for clinicians to help treat breast cancer patients and lead therapies. This study was to explore the expression and clinical significance of Periostin in breast cancer tissues and adjacent tissues.Method Fifty patients with clinically diagnosed breast cancer were enrolled inthis study.Immunohistochemical two-step method was used to determine whether different factors included age,TNM stage, sequencing batch reactor(SBR),pathologic type, lymphatic metastasis, the positive rate of PN expression in breast cancer and its adjacent tissues was compared with that in normal breast tissues..Results Periostin expressed in breast cancer and cancer adjacent tissues, and with the increase of TNM staging(P = 0.024),increased SBR classification(P = 0.012)and lymphatic metastasis(P = 0.035),the periostin expression positive rate increased; At the same time, there was no significant correlation between age, pathologic classification and the positive rate of periostin, and the difference was not statistically significant(P >0.05).Conclusion Periostin in breast cancer and cancer adjacent tissues change with TNM,SBR,lymph node metastasis and its expression positive rate increased, explain periostin may be involved in the pathophysiological progress of breast cancer, and to promote and enhance the role. However, further experiments are needed to confirm whether Periostin can be a potential target for future clinical treatment because of the smaller sample size.
