Cardiovascular disease is recently one of the main causes of dead in the world. To the clinician its one of the challenging thought in the daily clinical experience, how to give the accuracy diagnosis and achieved possible effective treatment to decrease the mortality rate and improves the quality of life of patients.the number of viable myocardium is the best indicator of survival in patients after cardiac intervention, therefore accurate identification of myocardial viability plays an important role in treatment and prognosis of cardiovascular disease. There are several diagnostic approaches used in current clinical practice for assessment of myocardial viability, such as Echocardiography?Single photon emission computed tomography?Positron emission tomography?magnetic resonance imaging and so on.With the rapid evolution of cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging techniques, such as the quick and strong magnetic field system,T1 Mapping?T2 Mapping?and three-dimensional fast gradient echo etc.it has become an important noninvasive diagnostic tool in assessment of myocardial viability. The article mainly introduces that the progression of Cardiac MRI about evaluating of the viable myocardium, comparing with the related non-invasive imaging technology,as well as Cardiac MRI plays an important role in other aspects of cardiovascular disease.
