Acupuncture Combined With Catgut Implantation For The Clinical Curative Effect Evaluation Of Osteopenia

Objective:Evaluate the curative effectiveness and security,clear the therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with catgut implantation at acupoints for the treatment of osteopenia,provide the basis for osteopenia prevention scheme by using the method of acupuncture.Methods:70 cases were randomly divided into acupuncture group of 39 cases and western medicine group of 31 cases.In the western medicine group,calcium carbonate D3 tablets were prescribed,1 piece/times,1 time/day,6 months continuous administration;In the Acupuncture group,on the basis of calcium carbonate D3 tablets combined with acupuncture and catgut implantation at acupoints therapy.Acupuncture treatment once a week,for six months.Respectively,before treatment,in 3 months and 6 months of treatment,the scores of Berg Balance Scale(BBS)Balance and SF-36 were compared between the two groups.And at the begainning and 6 months of treatment,TCM symptoms and physical signs score,the overall efficiency rate,muscle strength of lower limb also and balance test(Five Times Sit to Stand Test,3 meters Time Up and Go Test,Time Gait Test),bone mineral density of lumbar spine and hip measured by dual energy X-ray were be compared between the two groups.Results:1.In 3 months and 6 months of treatment,TCM symptoms and signs scores were significantly decreased as compared with those before treatment(all P<0.05);and those scores were all reduced apparently as compared with in 3 months(all P<0.05),and the total scores of acupuncture group was obviously lower than werstern medicine group(P<0.05).After 6 months therapy,all the symptoms and signs score in the acupuncture group was dropped(all P<0.05),and the symptoms and signs scores such as lumbago,soreness and weakness of waist and knees,dizziness was decreased in the werstern medicine group(all P<0.05).After 3 months therapy,the score of dizziness in the acupuncture group was lower than the medicine group(P<0.05),And after 6 months therapy,the score of chils in the acupuncture group was lower than the medicine group(P<0.05).To relieve the TCM symptoms and signs scores,acupuncture group was better than the western medicine group.2.The overall efficiency rate on the acupuncture group and the werstern medicine group after 6 months treatment were 82.1%,61.3%respectively,the acupuncture group is better than the other group(P<0.05).3.After 6 months treatments,the score of BBS was enhanced compared with the previous in acupuncture group(P<0.05).After 3 and 6 months therapy,the score of BBS were both highier than those before treatments in the western medicine group(all P<0.05),and the score was higher than it before 3 months(P<0.05).4.The SF-36 scale score were higher than those before treament in both two groups(P<0.05).After 6 months therapy,the score of SF-36 in the acupuncture group was enhanced compared with 3 months ago(P<0.05).5.Compared with the previous,Five Times Sit to Stand Test in acupuncture group takes a shorter time(P<0.05).6.After 6 months treatments,in Acupuncture group and western medicine group,the L2-4 bone mineral density are 92.3%and 92.3%respectively;the Neck bone mineral density are 79.5%and 79.5%respectively;the Total BMD curative are 87.2%,87.1%respectively.There were no significant differences between the two groups(P>0.05).7.In the process of treatment both of the two groups have no adverse reactions and side effects.Conclusion:Acupuncture combined with catgut implantation could improve TCM symptoms and signs in osteopenia,enhance the body balance and quality of life,and the overall efficiency rate is higher than simple use of western medicine,especially in improving the chills and dizziness were better than western medicine only;Acupuncture combined with catgut implantation could improve bone mineral density.
