Research On Characteristics Of Cognitive Impairment Of Patients With Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus

Objective:To explore the characteristics of cognitive function impairment in patients with idiopathic idiopathic hydrocephalus(iNPH)and healthy people of the same age,same gender,and same educational level.To provide evidence for the early detection of cognitive impairment in patients with i NPH and early surgical treatment by ventriculoperitoneal shunts.Methods:A total of 19 patients with iNPH were selected from Neurology of the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from October 2016 to October 2017.And 19 healthy volunteers were collected as controls at the same period(gender,age,age of education matched)from the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University.All the above subjects volunteered to participate in the study.Subjects were collected for age,sex,education level,medical history,related laboratory tests,neurological examination,and CT or MRI examinations.Using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale(MoCA),Webster's Adult Intelligence Scale Digital Breadth Test(DST),Frontal Leaf Functional Rating Scale(FAB),Stroop Color Word Test(SWT),and Wechsler Adult Intelligence the building blocks test and the draw clock test(CDT),assess overall cognition,executive ability,visual space,and attention.Results:1.The iNPH group had lower scores in the MoCA total score,visual space,execution ability,and attention than the control group(P<0.05),but there were nosignificant difference between the two groups in language,naming,directional force,abstraction and delayed recall(P>0.05);2.The iNPH group of Webster's Adult Intelligence Scale Digital Breadth Test(DST),Frontal Leaf Functional Rating Scale(FAB),Stroop Color Word Test(SWT),and Wechsler Adult Intelligence the building blocks test and the draw clock test(CDT)scores were lower than the control group(P < 0.05).Conclusion:1.There is a clear reduction in overall cognitive function of iNPH,of which frontal lobe executive function,attention and visual space ability are the most prominent manifestations of cognitive impairment in iNPH patients.2.The Webster's Adult Intelligence Scale Digital Breadth Test,Frontal Leaf Functional Rating Scale,Stroop Color Word Test,and Wechsler Adult Intelligence the building blocks test and the draw clock test are used as clinical cognitive check tools in iNPH.It is of great significance to identify the cognitive impairment of iNPH patients during clinical diagnosis and treatment.
