Objective:To explore the application of EEG in the early disease condition evaluation and prognosis determination of adult anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis,in order to find a simple, economical and effective examination method to assess the condition and determine the prognosis. Methods:We collected 20 adult patients with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis in the first hospital of Shanxi Medical University from June,2012 to October,2017.They were divided into five levels according to the functional independence measure(FIM)scale in acute stage and recovery stage of the disease,to record the EEG results in the acute phase and the recovery phase, and evaluate the prognosis according to the functional independence measure(FIM).The presence or absence of delta waves in the electroencephalogram monitoring during the acute phase was recorded and the electroencephalogram was graded according to the EEG classification based on EEG reactivity(ECBER)to analysis the correlation between the disease rank and EEG rank. The Spearman test was performed to determine whether there was a correlation between the presence of delta wave in acute phase electroencephalogram and the severity of condition in acute and recovery phases. The correlation between EEG rank and disease rank in acute and recovery phases were analyzed by Spearman test.Results:(1)EEG rank in acute phase was positively correlated with disease rank in acute phase(r=0.486,P?0.05);(2)EEG rank in recovery phase was positively correlated with disease rank in recovery phase(r=0.503,P ? 0.05);(3)Patients with extreme ? brush waves during EEG monitoring in acute phase have more serious conditions(r=0.589,P?0.01);(4)Patients with extreme ? brush waves during EEG monitoring in acute phase of the disease do not necessarily have worse prognosis than those who do not. Conclusion:The abnormal degree of EEG increases with the severity of the disease. The abnormal degree of EEG in the recovery period of anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis decreased with the degree of disease recovery.EEG can be used as an effective, repeatable, effective and economical method for early disease assessment and prognosis of adult anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis.
