Objective: To explore the correlation between chronic heart failure and mild cognitive impairment(MCI)in the elderly,in order to provide ways for the prevention and treatment of elderly patients with chronic heart failure and MCI.Methods: 100 elderly CHF patients hospitalized in the Departments of Geriatrics,Cardiology,First Affiliated Hospital of Shihezi University School of Medicine from November 2016 to August 2017 were randomly selected as the CHF group. In the non-CHF group,100 non-heart failure patients were randomly recruited during the same period.Using Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA)to assess cognitive function, the differences between CHF and non-CHF groups were compared.SPSS21.0 was used for statistical analysis. Results: 1.The prevalence of mild cognitive impairment in CHF group was 60.00%,which was higher than that in non-CHF group(37.00%).The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.The average MoCA score was(21.31±4.76)points in CHF group,and(26.70±2.18)points in non-CHF group. The CHF group was lower than non-CHF group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The CHF group scores in all aspects of cognitive function(visual space and executive function, naming, attention, language, abstract, delayed recall, orientation)were lower than non-CHF group, the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).3.The mean value of MoCA score in NYHA-III group was(20.58±3.49)points,which was lower than NYHA-II group(26.32 ± 1.85)points,P <0.05,but higher than NYHA-IV level group(15.89 ± 0.82)points,P < 0.05.4.There was a significant negative correlation between the duration of heart failure,NT-proBNP,NYHA functional class, and MoCA scores in the CHF group(r =-0.649,-0.777,-0.864,P < 0.05).The LVEF and MoCA scores were significantly positive correlation(r = 0.831,P < 0.05).Conclusion: 1.The prevalence of MCI in elderly patients with chronic cardiac insufficiency is high, and apparent space and executive function, naming, attention, language, abstraction, delayed recall, and orientation are significantly reduced.CHF in the elderly may be an important factor leading to MCI in patients.2.For patients with chronic heart failure with high NYHA class, low LVEF,long duration of heart failure, and high NT-proBNP,screening for MCI should be performed in time to delay the progression of cognitive impairment.
