Preparation Of Graphene Oxide Coatings On The Titanium Alloy Surface

Objective To prepare a kind of coating on the Titanium alloy surface with graphene oxide?GO?and to evaluate its physical-mechanical property and biocompatibility preliminarily,in hope to provide a new alternative for methods of surface modifications of dental implant.Methods Ti substrates prepared by the alkali-hydrothermal reaction were coated with GO?Ti/GO?through layer-by-layer assembly of positively?GO-NH₃⁺?and negatively?GO-COO^-?charged GO sheet with fifteen bilayers.Observations of the prepared solutions and Ti discs by naked eyes were recorded.The hydrophobic nature of GO coating on Ti substrates was analyzed by contact angle meter,and the microstructure of GO coating on Ti substrates were characterized by SEM and AFM.And bonding strength between coating and Ti substrate was measured using the Universal testing machine.The in vitro cellular response was observed by the biological behaviors of BMSCs which were inoculated on Ti substrates by SEM and Fluorescence Microscopy.Porphyromonas gingivalis was utilized to evaluate the antibacterial effect of the Ti/GO surface.Results1.Surface characteristics:The GO coating with nano-scale surface topography on the aikali-hydrothermal reacted Ti alloy discs was hydrophilic.The thickness of the coating was about 90 nm and its bonding strength was 17.6±2.76 MPa.2.In vitro cellular assessment and antibacterial test:The GO coating improved the adhension of BMSCs and keptcells live.86.34%of bacteria had been killed on the Ti/GO surface.Conclusions1.The GO-coated Ti discs had good physical and mechanical property.2.The GO-coated Ti discs also had good biocompatibility and antibacterial property.
