A Case Report And Literature Review Of A Urethral Leiomyoma

Leiomyoma is a benign smooth muscle tumor which is rarely found in urethra.Women are more likely to suffer from the urethral leiomyoma compared with men.So far less than 120 cases were reported.In my research,a 38-year-old chinese women has been found a solid mass in the urethra by ultrasonography without any symptoms of urinary irritation and obstruction.The tumor was confirmed that it growed in the beginning part of the urethra by CT examination and urethroscopy.The mass was overwhelmingly removed by transurethral resection of lump.Pathological examinations confirmed the urethral leiomyoma.The tumor recurred four months after the surgouy,and the patient need a second operation.It is indicated that resection of transurethral mass incompletely can not cure the leiomyoma of the urethra.
