Objective:To explore risk factors related to Graves’ disease(GD)patients can not withdraw the Antithyroid drugs(ATD)after 3 years regular treatment.Methods:550 GD patients who get regular treatment of ATDs were divided into withdraw ATD group(n=207)and undergoing ATD treament group(n=343)according to their clinical aspects within a 3-year ATD cure.Differences of gender, age, family history of GD,combination of L-thyroxine(L-T4),ombination of Graves’ ophthalmopathy, combination of myxedema, smoking during ATD treatment, drinking during ATD treatment, restricting iodine intake during ATD treatment, geting stress affairs, serum levels of Free Triiodothyroxine,Free Thyroxine,Thyroid stimulating hormone,Thyroid peroxidase antibody,Thyroglobulin antibody, thyroid stimulating hormone antibodies(TRAb)at baseline etc, were compared between two groups. Results:In contrast to the withdraw ATD group, still been teated group patients showed much younger age(P<0.05),higher percentage of GD family history(P<0.05),the percentage of positive TRAb at baseline(P<0.01),higher percentage of smoking during ATD treatment(P<0.01),lower percentage of iodine intake during ATD treatment(P<0.01),higher percentage of Graves’ ophthalmopathy(P<0.05).In a Logistic regression model, positive of TRAb at baseline, not adhering to iodine intake and younger age, combination of Graves’ ophthalmopathy and somking during ATD treatment were risk factors for extending the ATD treatment duration. Conclusions:Various clinical predicators may relate to discontinuation of ATD,younger age, positive of TRAb at baseline, combination of Graves’ ophthalmopathy can predict the ATD treatment duration, and quit somking, reduce iodine intake can help GD patients meet the withdraw ATD earlier.
