Endometriosis(abbreviated as EMS)is morphologically benign, but clinically shows the characteristics of similar malignant tumors such as implantation, invasion and distant metastasis, which seriously affect the quality of life of patients. The pathogenesis of endometriosis has not yet been elucidated. After Sampson proposed the theory of "menstrual blood reflux" in1921,he also put forward the theory of cavity epithelial chemistry, induction theory, and genetic factors. After further researches in recent years, the factors related to the pathogenesis of endometriosis include stem cell factors, inflammatory immune responses, and angiogenesis, which provide a new target for the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis. This article is a review and sum-mary of progress of related researches on the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
