The Significance Of Serum Omentin-1 Monitoring In Assessing The Severity Of Acute Pancreatitis

Objective: To test the levels of serum Omentin-1 and further explore it's value for severity assessment in patients with acute pancreatitis(AP).Methods: To test and compare serum Omentin-1 levels of 32 cases with acute pancreatitis on admission[15 cases with mild acute pancreatitis(MAP),17 cases with moderately severe acute pancreatitis(MSAP)and severe acute pancreatitis(SAP)]and 32 cases as healthy controls.Serum Omentin-1 levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Meanwhile,blood samples of patients group were extracted for blood test of serum biochemical indexes.At the same time,correlation analysis were made between serum Omentin-1 levels and the RANSON score?APACHE ?score ?MCTSI score and the levels of high sensitive C reactive protein(hs-CRP).Also,the value of serum levels of Omentin-1 and other related scoring systems in predicting AP severity were measured by the area under the curve(AUC)of receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC).Results:1.The serum levels of Omentin-1 on admission in MAP group and MSAP+SAP group were 46.49(11.65)ng/ml and 39.15(9.62)ng/ml,significantly higher than those in the control group,which were20.42(8.61)ng/ml(P<0.05).The differences between serum Omentin-1 levels in MAP group and MSAP+SAP group were not significantly(P>0.05).2.Serum levels of Omentin-1 in MAP group and MSAP+SAP group were not correlated with RANSON score?APACHE ? score?MCTSI score and the levels of high sensitive C reactive protein(hs-CRP).3.The ROC area under curve on Omentin-1 levels of MAP group was0.588(P>0.05),and the ROC area under curve on Omentin-1 levels of MSAP+SAP group was 0.412(P>0.05),the serum Omentin-1 levels showedno value on severity assessment in patients with acute pancreatitis(AP).Conclusion: The serum levels of Omentin-1 increased significantly in patients with AP,but there were no differences of serum Omentin-1 levels between MAP group and MSAP+SAP group.We need to confirm it with more large sample cases.
