Objective: Current study suggest that lysyl oxidase-like 2(LOXL2)play a part in the invasion and metastasis process of malignant tumors. Our study aimed to compare the expression difference in renal carcinoma tissues and adjacent tissues, and to analyze the relationship between LOXL2 and clinicopathologic parameters of renal carcinoma and postoperative survival time. Methods: our study determined the expression of LOXL2 in 58 renal carcinoma tissues and 13 adjacent tissues by immunohistochemistry assay, and the correlation between LOXL2 expression and clinicopathologic parameters together with prognosis were further analyzed through statistical method. Results: Our results suggested that the positive rate of LOXL2 expression in renal carcinoma tissues and adjacent tissues were 68.96% and 23.08%(p<0.05),respectively,and that the expression of LOXL2 was related to clinical stage and renal capsule invasion(P<0.05),but not associated with gender(p>0.05),age(p>0.05),tumor size(p>0.05),tumor grade(p > 0.05)and metastasis(p > 0.05).The Kaplan-Meier method and Log-Rank test were used to study the relation between LOXL2 and post-operation survival time showing that the five-year survival rate in LOXL2 positive group was lower than that in negative group without statistical significance(p>0.05).Conclusion: According to our results,LOXL2 was highly expressed in renal carcinoma tissue and might play a part in the process of invasion and metastasis of renal carcinoma and may be considered as a new treatment target of renal carcinoma patients.
