Objective:Symptoms information from other observers other than children themselves is usually necessary in clinical interview to diagnose ADHD.However, the principle for information adoption is fuzzy in either diagnosis standard or practice guidelines. To explore the difference between parent's and teacher's report can facilitate the adoption of ADHD symptoms information in clinical interview. Methods: Symptom scale results for 230 children with suspected ADHD filled by parent and teacher were collected,The distinction between different observers was analyzed by paired Chi-square test and cluster analysis.Results:(1)34.8%(80/230)children with suspected ADHD were 6~8 years old;26.5%(61/230)children meet the symptom criterion of DSM-5 only in parent`s questionnaires;7%(16/230)children meet the symptom criterion of DSM-5 only in teacher`s questionnaires;only 33.9%(78/230)children meet the symptom criterion of DSM-5 in both parent`s and teacher`s questionnaires;(2)in regard to attention deficit and hyperactivity symptoms, except for the items of effort, planning and noise, parent`s awareness for symptoms was significantly higher than that of teacher`s(P<0.05);(3)The 9 criterion items of attention deficit syndrome might be grouped into the following 4 categories.Category 1: attention span, attention abidance, interference control;category 2: planning, mental energy(activation, effort);category 3: working memory(lost items, central executive);category 4: delay aversion. Conclusion: There are significant differences between parent`s and teacher`s reports about ADHD symptoms, and parent`s awareness for symptoms is significantly higher than that of teacher`s.Attention deficit symptoms reported by teacher may be helpful for explaining the relation of symptoms and brain dysfunction.
