Objective: The curative effect analysis on reconstruction of the lateral ankle ligaments using the peroneus longus tendon and peroneus brevis tendon graft. Methods: To retrospectivly analysis 80 the ankle lateral ligament injury patients of the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University, foot and ankle department, from January 2013 to January 2016.Patients was divided into two groups according to the surgical procedures: A was autologous peroneus longus reconstruction,a total of 42 cases,24 male,18 female;B was autologous peroneus brevis reconstruction group,a total of 38 cases,18 male,20 female;Outcomes were assessed by comparison of pre-and postoperative AOFAS scores,VAS pain scores, and Karlsson scores, and the radiographic assessment including talar tilt and anterior talar translation.Preoperative and postoperative use of a sensitive dynamometer to measure the patient's foot inversion, valgus, plantarflexion and dorsiflexion strength,to determine whether the patient's foot muscle strength changes.By comparing the vertex of the medial arch of the foot and the lateral arch, and the length of the transverse arch,it was judged whether the arch had changed.Result: Postoperatively,66 patients were followed up for 12-26 months, including 36 cases in group A and 30 in group B.Two of the reconstruction methods were satisfactory, and the scores of the patients after operation and ATT and TTA were significantly different. There was no statistically significant difference between group A and group B with preoperative inversion, valgus, plantarflexion, and dorsiflexion compared with the time of the final follow-up.However,the number of patients with decreased muscle strength in the A group was statistically significant compared with that in theB group. Conclusion: Both methods can improve the stability of the ankle joint, but the peroneus longus tendon have little effect on the post-operative muscle strength of the foot and can be used as the preferred surgical treatment for the treatment of CLAI.
