| Objective: To investigate the correlation between age and clinical characteristics of NMOSD patients. Methods: The NMOSD patients were divided into the early-onset group(< 50 years old)and the late-onset group(50 years or older),and their clinical data were collected and compared.Results:1.There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of gender, initial symptoms, imaging performance, cerebral spinal fluid cell number and protein, visual evoked potential(VEP)(P >0.05).However,the late-onset group with autoantibodies or autoimmune diseases had more than the early-onset group, and the positive rate of AQP-4antibody was higher than that of the early-onset group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).2.EDSS score comparison: in the beginning and 30 days of the disease the late-onset group were higher than the early-onset group, and AQP-4antibody positive in the late-onset group higher than that of early-onset group, the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05);However,there was no significant difference in AQP-4 antibody positive and negative patients in the late-onset group(P > 0.05).Conclusions:1.There was no significant correlation between age and gender, preclinical infection history, initial symptoms, imaging findings,VEP and CSF routine biochemistry.2.With the increase of age,the body’s immune regulation ability gradually decreases, and the more autoimmune diseases accompany it.3.The positive rate of aqp-4 antibody in late-onset group was higher thanthat of early-onset group, indicates that there was a correlation between age and the expression of aqp-4 antibody:the expression rate of aqp-4 antibody was higher in patients with late onset.4.The EDSS score of late-onset group was higher in the beginning and 30 days of onset of the disease than the early-onset group, and after controlling the level of aqp-4 antibody, the results were consistent,Indicates that age has a certain correlation with the severity and prognosis of the disease in NMOSD patients:the patient with older age is more serious, with higher disability rate and poor prognosis. |
