Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between serum LCN2 level and left ventricular remodeling(LVR)in patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI).Methods: 83 patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI)were collected.All of them arrived at hospital within 24 hours after the onset of the symptoms,and had received thrombolytic therapy or emergency PCI to achieve vascular recanalization.We measured the serum LCN2 level of them by ELISA.The left ventricular end diastolic volume(LVEDV)and ejection fraction(EF)were recorded within 48 hours and 3months after onset of symptoms.It is considered as ventricular remodeling that the rate of change of LVEDV?15%,and thus the STEMI group was divided into remodeling and non-remodeling groups,and the difference of LCN2 level between the two groups was compared.Another 30 healthy subjects were selected as the control group.To compare the LCN2 levels between AMI group and control group,t test was used to compare the mean,and chi-square test was used to compare the rates.Results:1.The level of LCN2 in AMI group(81.4±14.3ng/ml)was higher than that in control group(34.1±8.8ng/ml),P<0.01;The level was positively correlated with the rate of change of LVEDV(r=0.72,P< 0.01),and negatively correlated with the rate of change of EF(r =-0.65,P<0.01).2.The serum LCN2 level(88.5±9.4ng/ml)in the remodeling group was higher than that in the non-remodeling group(67.8±12.1ng/ml,P< 0.05).3.LVEDV(104.8±8.3ml vs.101.0±10.5ml)and EF(52.5±4.3% vs.54.9±3.7%)were no difference between the remodeling and non-remodeling groups within 48 hours of onset.LVEDV(127.3±9.8ml vs.111.6±12.1ml)andEF(45.7±4.5% vs.53.6±4.0%)were significantly different at 6 months(P<0.05).Conclusions:LCN2 level in AMI group was higher than that in control group,and it is higher in the remodeling group than that in non-remodeling group.It is suggested that LCN2 level in serum may be related to AMI and may promote the development of LVR after AMI.
