With the improvement of people's living standards, the No.1 killer of health has turned to be cardiovascular disease.Among various cardiovascular diseases, coronary heart disease is the most common cause of death, and atherosclerosis is the main inducing factors. The principal site of atherosclerosis is the bifurcation and bulging of the blood vessels.Because blood in these areas is unstable,it tends to form a turbulent flow and the flow rate changes drastically.By performing a fluid dynamics analysis, the basic relationship between coronary artery disease and hemodynamics is examined to provide better prevention and treatment options for combating cardiovascular diseases. The main research contents of this article are as follows:(1)Through the use of an improved three-dimensional region growing algorithm, the segmentation results of traditional three-dimensional regional growth is improved, and the coronary artery is accurately segmented and extracted to establish a three-dimensional model of the coronary arteries.(2)The hemodynamic environment of atherosclerotic blood vessels was examined and discussed by the use of fluid-structure interaction model. The relationship between flow field characteristics(such as shear stress)and cardiovascular disease was studied. For common hemodynamic parameters, the spatial distribution(eg,shear stress)at the diseased vessel is verified and analyzed.(3)Based on the research results of coronary artery segmentation algorithm and coronary fluid dynamics simulation,a multidimensional medical image fusion platform for managing original coronary arteries images and simulation was developed.Through this system, doctors can manage CT data,3D model creation, and final simulation results.Using multi-dimensional image management platform, the research management of the coronary arteries will be advanced towards knowledge, structuring, and systematic development.
