Objectives:This study aimed at investigating undergraduate nursing interns' expectations for clinical nursing teachers with Q-methodology.To provide scientific evidence for further making effective strategies to meet undergraduate nursing interns' expectations for clinical nursing teachers for improving the quality of undergraduate nursing students' clinical practice and to provide references for the study for applying Q-methodology to conduct subjective studies in nursing field.Methods:This study explores undergraduate nursing interns' expectations for clinical nursing teachers with Q-methodology.The specific content is:1.Q sample 17 undergraduate nursing interns' specific expectations for clinical teachers are collected to construct Q sample by semi-structured and face-to-face depth interviews.2.P sample design questionnaire to survey undergraduate nursing interns' background information,then 18 undergraduate nursing interns with different backgrounds are selected non-randomly and purposefully as P sample.3.Q-sort set a 11-level normal distribution table to let the Q sample be sorted by P sample.4.Statistical analysis by SPSS20.0 software package,to make descriptive statistical analysis for the questionnaire result,make correlation analysis and factor analysis for Q-sort result,etc.5.Type of factor type of factor is based on statements in the first two grades with high scores and focus on the statements with the highest score.Result:The undergraduate nursing interns' expectations for the clinical nursing teachers are divided into four categories:(1)expect clinical nursing teachers to be friendly to undergraduate nursing interns.(2)expect clinical nursing teachers to give undergraduate nursing interns more chances to improve clinical practice ability.(3)expect clinical nursing teachers to have good teaching qualities.(4)expect clinical nursing teachers to expand teaching content.Conclusion:1.Undergraduate nursing interns' expectations for clinical nursing teachers are diverse and complex.It provides new references for the further study for making effective measures to meet undergraduate nursing interns' expectations for clinical nursing teachers for improving the quality of undergraduate nursing students' clinical practice.2.In order to promote the overall quality and ability of clinical teachers to meet undergraduate nursing interns ' expectations for improving the quality of nursing students' practice,it is recommended that nursing managers should set up full-time clinical nursing teachers;Optimize the selection system of clinical nursing teachers;Strengthen the training and assessment of clinical nursing teachers.Clinical nursing teachers should care for the nursing students;Strengthen the communication with the nursing students;Attach importance to the assessment of the overall situation of nursing students,carry out targeted teaching;Pay attention to the characteristics of specialties,and enable nursing students to master the nursing points of this specialty.3.Q-methodology is a scientific and useful method that can be applied to nursing field in China.
