Objective To study the relationship between pituitary height,serum GH and IGF-1 levels and growth rate in short stature children.Methods Select the short children in the Department of Endocrinology of Children's Hospital Affiliated to Soochow University from September to November 2015,select the children aged 4-8 years whose growth hormone stimulates,and according to inclusion criteria,enrolling 93 patients,including male 62 cases(66.7%)and 31 females(33.3%),the average age(6.16± 1.18)years old.In the two growth hormone stimulation results were all GH peak< 7ng/ml,into the GHD group,there are at least 1 times GH peak is37ng/ml,into the ISS group.The pituitary height,IGF-1 and(35)IGF-1 between the two groups was compared,and the correlation between the pituitary height and the GH peak,and IGF-1,and(35)IGF-1 in each group rate was analyzed.Results The height of pituitary between GHD group and ISS group were 3.08 ± 0.85 mm vs 3.60 ± 0.95 mm P <0.05,the IGF-1 and the standard deviation of IGF-1 were 132.92±66.23ng/ml vs 127.67±55.92ng/m P>0.05,and 0.36±1.09 SDS vs 0.29±1.60 SDS,P>0.05.The relationship between pituitary height and GH peak: GHD group r = 0.02 P> 0.05,ISS r = 0.37 P <0.05.The relationship between pituitary height and(35)IGF-1:GHD group r = 0.3 P> 0.05,ISS group r = 0.14 P> 0.05.The relationship pituitary height and IGF-1: GHD group r = 0.35 P> 0.05,ISS group r = 0.27 P <0.05.The growth rate compared between groups,ISS treatment group and ISS non-treatment group was 8.9±1.2 cm/y vs 6.7±2.0 cm/y,P< 0.05,GHD treatment group and ISS treatment group was 10.1 ± 1.2 cm/y vs 8.9± 1.2 cm/y,P>0.05,GHD non-treatment group and ISS non-treatment group was 4.7± 0.8 cm/y vs 6.7 ± 2.0 cm/y,P<0.05.The correlation between pituitary height and growth rate in GHD treatment group(r =-0.95 P <0.05);and in GHD non-treatment group(r = 0.71 P> 0.05),and in ISS treatment group(r =-0.66 P <0.05),and in ISS non-treatment group(r =-0.26 P> 0.05)Conclusion: The average pituitary height of GHD group was smaller than that of ISS group.The height of the pituitary is not related to(35)IGF-1.In group GHD and group ISS treated with rhGH,the smaller the pituitary height was,the faster the growth rate was when rhGH was applied.
