Objective:Meta-analysis was performed to compare the efficacy and safety of sequential therapy versus bismuth-containing quadruple therapy in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori(Hp).Method:PubMed,CNKI,Wanfang and VIP databases were researched for randomised controlled trails(RCTs)comparing the efficacy and safety of sequential therapy and bismuth-containing quadruple therapy for treatment of Hp infection.Studies matched the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria were enrolled. The data we need was extracted, and study quality was assessed by the Jadad scale.Stata12.0 software was used for meta-analysis.Results:35 RCTs with 5406 patients were included.Meta-analysis showed that no significant difference was noted in Hp eradication between sequential therapy and bismuth-containing quadruple therapy[85.46%vs 83.22%,RR=1.03(0.997,1.068),p=0.078,I2 =56.2%].Also,the incidence of adverse events were similar in this two groups[RR=1.03(0.906,1.171),p=0.654,I2=6.5%].Conclusion:No evidence suggests that the efficacy and safety are different between sequential therapy and bismuth-containing quadruple therapy in the treatment of Hp infection.
