Objective:To investigate the expression and clinical significance of IL-12 family cytokines in tuberculous pleural effusion(TPE)and malignant pleural effusion(MPE).Methods:Fifty TPE patients and thirty lung cancer with malignant pleural effusion(MPE)who were hospitalized at Guangxi Medical University from March 2014 to September 2016 were recruited.Samples of pleural effusion(100ml)were collected after traditional pleurocenteis.Blood(10ml)was sampled from TPE and MPE patients.The expression of IL-12 family cytokines were assessed by sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELISA).The data was analyzed with SPSS 19.0 software.Result:?Pleural effusion:the expression of IL-12,IL-27,IL-35 in pleural effusion were elevated in TPE compared with MPE(P<0.05).There was no significance of the expression of IL-23 in pleural effusion between TPE and MPE(P>0.05).?Pleural effusion and corresponding serum:the expression of IL-12?IL-23?IL-27?IL-35 were elevated in pleural effusion compared with corresponding serum in TPE and MPE(all P<0.01).3.Serum:the expression of IL-27 was elevated in the serum of TPE compared with MPE(P<0.05).There were no significances of the expression of IL-12,IL-23,IL-35 in serum between TPE and MPE(P>0.05).?correlation:there were no correlations among the expression of IL-12,IL-23,IL-27,IL-3 5 in pleural effusion in MPE and TPE.There were no correlations among the expression of IL-12,IL-23,IL-27,IL-35 in serum in MPE and TPE.The expression of IL-12 in pleural effusion was correlated with that in serum(r=0.317,P<0.05).The expression of IL-23 in pleural effusion was correlated with that in serum(r=0.405,P<0.05).The expression of IL-27 in pleural effusion was correlated with that in serum(r=0.50,P<0.05).There was no correlation between the expression of IL-35 in pleural effusion and that in serum.?Analysis result of ROC:The cut-off value of pleural IL-12,IL-27,IL-35 for the diagnosis of TPE were 28.573pg/ml,207.75pg/ml,976.876pg/ml,respectively.The sensitivity of pleural IL-12,IL-27,IL-35 were 86.7%,96.7%,83.3%,the specificjty were 93%,84.2%,63.2%,respectively.Conclusions:1.IL-12,IL-27,IL-35 were elevated in TPE compared with MPE,they could distinguish TPE from MPE.2.IL-12,IL-27,IL-35 may be involved in the inflammatory response of pleurisy in TPE and be helpful to the diagnosis of TPE.The highest of the diagnostic value is IL-12,followed by IL-27,and IL-35 is finity.
