The Fifth Plenary Session of the 18 th Communist Party of China(CPC)Central Committee has vowed to build a“Healthy China”and General Secretary XiJinping proposed“ there would be no comprehensive well-off society,without civil health".In such a background,public hospitals must accelerate the pace of improving the quality and efficiency health care services to achieve patient-oriented health care services.This paper analyses the case study of the reengineering process of W Hospital,and provides a reference for other hospitals in the medical aspect for process reengineering.This article first introduces the overview of new and old hospital campus,business processes before reengineering,diagnoses the existing problems in the medical procedures and treatment time concentration through satisfaction surveys,field surveys and expert advices,analyses the causes of excessively detailed department functions and the cumbersome of hospitalization and etc.,and sets the goals of business process reengineering.The bottleneck of medical reengineering process in current situation,as well as reengineering of medical service process in public hospitals in China are the lack of management personnel and information technology conditions,imperfection of social security system.Opportunities and challenges of the W hospital in medical reengineering process.Next,introduces its preparation,carry-out and finally the implementation through preparing information technology and using software,employee training,advertising,simulation and test.This part also includes detailed outpatient procedures,reengineering process,while exploring management and clinical pathways in hospital management,and reengineering of efficiency,satisfaction,cost and quality of service.Finally,introduces the W hospital medical reengineering process of "understanding needs" of outpatient appointment management,establishment of electronic record of patient health information through healthcare information and management systems.Moreover,this part explores outpatient prepaid mode and multi-channel settlement mode,national firsthospital-nurse station settlement mode for both admission and discharge,the "zero cost" multifunctional self-service machine service mode,the skillfully deflected “ leveraging ”mode,first hospital in the national provide outside care system and other innovative achievements.The successful medical reengineering process in W hospital are analyzed: "project leader" as the main stem,promote service model innovation,the hospital itself has a strong information technology development capability: gains local social security support and integrates the social resources.At last,it prospects the further thoughts on W hospital medical reengineering process: let the patients enjoy a "family doctor" and "care" from mobile phone clinic to the desktop cloud technology family doctor services,explore the remote“smart health monitoring mode” based on mobile terminals and explore future medical models based on medical big data.
