Objective To investigate the clinical value of ultrasound breast imaging reporting and data system(BI-RADS)category in diagnosis of minimal breast carcinoma.Methods Ultrasonic data of 255 small breast lesions which were diagnosised as BI-RADS category 3-5 from January 2012 to May 2016 in our hospital were collected.We researched on the clinical value of ultrasound BI-RADS category in diagnosis of minimal breast carcinoma by retrospectively analyzing the ultrasound features,ultrasound BI-RADS category and pathological results of the lesions.Results The pathological results suggested that there were 191 benign lesions and 64 malignant lesions in the 255 minimal breast lesions.Patients with malignant lesions in aged of 41 or higher accounts for 82.8% and the percentage of the patients age <41 is 17.2%.The sensitivity,specificity,accuracy,positive predictive value(PPV)and negative predictive value(NPV)of ultrasound BI-RADS category were 89.1%,80.6%,82.8%,60.6% and 95.7%,respectively.The differences in non circumscribed margin,irregular shape,aspect ratio ≥1,micro calcification in mass,blood flow resistance index(RI)within the lesion ≥0.7,shadowing and the changes of surrounding tissues between benign and malignant lesions were statistically significant(P<0.05).Higher sensitivity was found in non circumscribed margin(82.8%)and irregular shape(85.9%).While higher specificity was found in aspect ratio ≥1(89.5%),micro calcification in mass(90.1%),blood flow RI within the lesion ≥0.7(92.7%),shadowing(95.3%)and the changes of surrounding tissues(99.5%).Conclusions Ultrasound BI-RADS category is of great value in diagnosing the minimal breast masses and has a high value in early diagnosis and treatment of breast minimal carcinoma.It is worth for popularization and must going to have broad application prospects.
