Objective: To evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of endoscopic pneumaitic dilation(EPD)achalasia(AC).Methods: A retrospective analysis was base on collecting a total of patients who were diagnosed with AC and treated with EPD from Jan2003 to May 2016.Result: A total of 190 patients who were diagnosed with AC and treated with EPD for 221 times.82 patients were followed up.According with follow-up,the symptons remitted in most of the 82 patients. The Short-term symptom-free rate was 70%-90%,with a long-term remission rate of 44.2%.The rate of cumulative recurrence was 28.4%,the median of relapse was 12.5 months.None of patients had complications of perforation, haematemesis, melena or GERD.Age,course of disease and times of dilation were relevant predictors to the remissions. Conclusion: Endoscopic pneumatic dilatation is an effective, safe, and economic treatment for achalasia. The duration of remission can extended by repeated dilations.Young patients or short course of disease have poorer symptom-free duration after EPD.
