ObjectiveTo explore the value of 3-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography(3D-STE)in evaluating the left ventricular systolic function in young strength athletes and find a sensitive way to evaluate the function of the left ventricular systolic function.Analysis the correlation between relative wall thickness(RWT)and left ventricular global circumferential strain(GCS),global longitudinal strain(GLS),global radial strain(GRS)and global area strain(GAS).Explore the left ventricular systolic function differences in strength young male athletes with different resting heart rates using 3D-STE.MethodsA total of 45 young strength athletes(athlete group)and 30 healthy young men(control group)were enrolled.Age,body surface area(BSA),systolic blood pressure(SBP),body mass index(BMI),diastolic blood pressure(DBP)and resting heart rates(HR)were recorded.Use traditional echocardiography combined with 3D-STE and got the thickness of interventricular septum(IVS),left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD),posterior wall thickness(PWT),RWT,left ventricular end-systolic volume(ESV),end-diastolic volume(EDV),ejection fraction(LVEF),stroke volume(SV),left ventricular mass(LVM),GLS,GCS,GAS and GRS,etc. The 45 athletes were divided into two groups based on resting heart rates(HR),Group A with HR< 60 beats per minute and Group B with HR? 60 beats per minute respectively.30 healthy young men as control group.HR,GLS,GCS,GAS and GRS were measured by 3D-STE.Analysis the differences of GLS,GCS,GAS and GRS among three groups.Statistical analyses were carried out using SPSS 21.0.Analysis the significant difference of the structure and function of left ventricle between athletes group and the control group.Analysis the correlation between RWT and GLS,GCS,GAS,GRS.Analysis the left ventricular systolic function differences in strength young male athletes with different resting heart rates using 3D-STE.Results1.The general data between athlete group and the control group. There were no significant differences between age, height, weight,BMI,SBP,DBP between athlete group and the control group(P>0.05).Compared with the control group,BSA increased and HR decreased in athlete group(P<0.05).2.The traditional echocardiography data between athlete group and the control group.Compared with the control group,IVS,PWT,LVEDD,RWT increased in athlete group, all had statistical significance(P<0.05).3.The three-dimensional echocardiography data between athlete group and the control group.Compared with the control group,EDV,ESV,SV and LVM increased,GLS,GCS,GAS and GRS decreased in athlete group, all had statistical significance(P<0.05).But there was no significant difference in LVEF between two groups.4.RWT was highly correlated with GLS,GAS,GCS and GRS.The correlation coefficients were 0.400,0.362,0.244,-0.273.The simple regression equations were Y1=-23.831+22.573 X,Y2=-38.479 +30.469 X,Y3=-20.346+13.810 X,Y4=64.345-61.412 X,all had statistical significance(P<0.05).5.The 3D-STE data between Group A and Group B.Compared with Group A,GLS,GCS,GAS and GRS decreased in Group B,HR increased, there were statistical significance between GCS,GRS and HR(P<0.05).Conclusion1.Male athletes who used to have regular,long-term physical training, the structure of left ventricle changes resulting in a concentric hypertrophy.2.There was subclinical changes of the left ventricular systolic function in young strength athletes.3D-STE can detect the changes sensitively, and provide reliable information for clinical assessment of athletes' heart function.3.RWT was closed correlated with GLS,GCS,GAS and GRS.With RWT increasing by 0.1,the absolute value of GLS,GCS and GAS decreased by 2.257%,1.381%,3.047%,GRS decreased by 6.141%.RWT enabled to evaluate the changes of the left ventricular systolic function of young strength athletes roughly.4.Male athletes with slower resting heart rates who used to have regular,long-term physical training, have comparatively better left ventricular systolic function. In conclusion,in the same physical situation, lower resting heart rates in athletes can work as a positive factor for better left ventricular systolic function.
