Purpose:Make retrospective analysis of the clinical data of patients with ulcerative colitis(UC),the out-of-hospital use of probiotics during remission, relapse of diseases, etc.,to explore probiotic preparation's efficacy and value in UC treatment.Method:Researchers learnt the drug use, eating habits, ages and genders of the patients during their out-of-hospital maintenance treatment through the data of the patients and calls.A total of 68 patients who were admitted by this hospital between January 2011 and July 2016,including 38 female patients and 30 male patients, were selected for the research. The patients were aged between 20 and 76,with an average age of 49.30±15.53.The patients were divided into two groups, namely the observation group and the control group. The control group was formed with UC patients who received long-term and regular maintenance treatment by 5-aminosalicylic acid preparation only during clinical remission;while the observation group was comprised of UC patients who received long-term and regular maintenance treatment by the combined use of 5-aminosalicylic acid preparation and probiotic preparation during clinical remission. The relapse patterns and average remission periods of patients in the two groups were compared to evaluate probiotics' efficacy in maintenance treatment of UC patients during remission. The data obtained in this study were analyzed and processed by the SPSS 22.0 statistics software. The normally-distributed data in both groups were listed in the form of(X±S).The results of the comparison of enumeration data between the two groups were tested by chi-square(?2),while the results of the comparison of measurement data between the two groups were tested by T test by two independent samples.A value of P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results:It was found that the differences in relapse patterns and average clinical remission periods between the observation group,in which patients received treatment by the combined use of 5-aminosalicylic acid preparation and probiotic preparation, and the control group,in which patients received treatment by 5-aminosalicylic acid preparation only, were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion:The additional use of probiotic preparation in the maintenance treatment for UC patients, who previously used aminosalicylic acid preparation only, during remission didn't significantly lower the relapse frequency among patients or prolong clinical maintenance periods. Therefore,UC patients are not advised to use probiotic preparation for long during maintenance treatment.
