Objective: To explore the pathogenic characteristics of soft tissue malignant tumors of upper limb and find the correlations among these characteristics. Methods: Data of the patients who were diagnosed and treated in hand surgery of China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University from September 2007 to December 2017 was collected and summarized into several clinical features, including general information, symptoms of chief complaints, time of surgical treatment, site of cancer, pathological pattern, cancer's size and the number of amputations. Then the data of these features was analyzed retrospectively. Results: The report includes 46 patients in all.Symptoms of chief complaints: 1)Pain: 15 cases;2)Ulcer: 13 cases;3)Pain+ Ulcer: 2 cases;4)other symptoms: 7cases;5)no symptom: 9cases.Time of surgical treatment: the shortest time was 1 month, the longest time more than 20 years and the average time 30.2months.The average time of patients whose cancer located in hand was 30.9 months, and the average time of patients whosecancer located in the other sites of upper limb except hand was29.4 months.Site of cancer: 1)shoulder or axillary region:5 cases;2)the upper arm: 1 case;3)elbow: 2 cases;4)forearm:5 cases;5)wrist: 2 cases;6)palm or back: 6 cases;7)finger:26 cases.Pathological pattern: there were 15 melanoma,10SCC(squamous cell carcinoma),5 SS(synovial sarcoma),3fibrosarcoma,2 undifferentiated sarcoma,2 carcinoma basocellulare,2 Malignant spindle cytoma,1 Bowen disease,1MPNST(malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor),1myofibroblastic sarcoma,1 LMS(leiomyosarcoma),1 ES(epithelioid sarcoma),1 CCSK(Clear cell sarcoma),1liposarcoma.Cancer's size: cancer's size was related with many factors. The number of amputation: 36 cases followed up,of which 26 cases underwent amputation.Finger amputation contains 21 cases,Forearm amputation 4 cases and upper arm amputation 1 case. Conclusion: 1)The top two common soft tissue malignant tumors of upper limb were melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma. The most common soft tissue malignant tumors at joints of upper limb was synovial sarcoma.2)Most soft tissue malignant tumors of upper limb were located in hand, most soft tissue malignant tumors of hand in fingers and most soft tissue malignant tumorsof finger in distal segment of fingers.3)the most common site of melanoma was the distal segment of thumb and the most common site of SCC were fingers, which might relate with repetitive fraction.4)In order to treat melanoma located in fingers, amuputation above two joints was the main choice. For SM,but, different surgical methods can be selected according to the pathological patterns.5)Strengthen the people's awareness about soft tissue malignant tumors of upper limb.6)The best way to control the morbidity of soft tissue malignant tumors of upper limb is early awareness, early diagnosis and early treatment.
