Wheat is one of the most important crops in China,however,yellow rust caused by Puccinia striiformis West.f.sp.Tritici Eriks.& Henn.can spread in the most wheat regions of China that threaten the safety of wheat production seriously.As one of the main wheat producing areas in China,Yellow and Huai Valley wheat region is the spring epidemic area of yellow rust.It is very important to control yellow rust in this wheat region.Spreading and planting resistant varieties is the most effective and environmentally friendly measure to control the disease.In the practice of disease resistance breeding,use of single resistance source or resistance gene on a large scale will easily lead to the rapidly loss of resistance,which will lead to the outbreak of yellow rust.Therefore,the accurate evaluation of resistance gene composition of resistant cultivaries or lines is the basis of rational distribution and utilization of resistance genes.Accurate evaluation of wheat resistance to the predominant Pst races and understanding the corresponding components of resistance genes would provide insight into rational use and layout of new varieties.For this purpose,a total of 150 wheat cultivars(lines)from this region were evaluated all-stage resistance(ASR)with predominant races CYR32,CYR33 and CYR34 under a control greenhouse and assessed adult plant resistance(APR)in field under artificial inoculation and natural infection environments.In addition,these materials were also performed molecular detection using various molecular markers linked with Yr genes including Yr5,Yr7,Yr9,Yr10,Yr17,Yr18,Yr26,Yr78 and Yr SP.Among the 150 tested cultivars,no materials had ASR,47 materials displayed APR(accounting for 31.3%),31 materials showed slow rusting(accounting for 20.7%)and the others were susceptible.Resistance genes Yr7,Yr9,Yr17,Yr18,Yr78 and Yr SP were postulated in 11,104,13,5,46 and 2 materials,respectively.Yr genes combinations Yr7+Yr9,Yr7+Yr17,Yr78+Yr SP,Yr9+Yr18,Yr9+Yr17,Yr9+Yr17+Yr18,Yr9+Yr17+Yr78,Yr SP+ Yr7+Yr9+Yr78 were also postulated in 1,1,1,3,7,2,1,1 materials,respectively.However,no materials carried the markers of Yr5,Yr10 and Yr26.In addition,individual cultivars may carry new genes resistant to stripe rust but further genetic mapping analysis should be performed for confirmation.These results suggest that the combination of genes is the basis for the resistance of wheat cultivars in this region that is consistent with the previous studies.
