As a new kind of functional vegetable, okra has high nutritional value and developing prospect. In this study,it was carried out for 14 morphological characteristics,10 botany characteristics and growth adaptability of 15 different okra varieties. The effects of different cultivation treatments on the content of cellulose, pectin and protein were studied with 5 to 10 different okra varieties. The change of okra quality was also analyzed during storage. The results are shown as follows:According to the botanical characteristics of different varieties of okra, the okra in the experiment can be divided into green and red.The coefficient of variation in the vegetative organs is leaf width >natural height > leaf length > seedling height, and the coefficient of variation in reproductive characteristics is flowering days > first flower Bud days > number of petals. There is a correlation between botany characteristics, such as longer leaf length with longer flowering days, higher natural height with longer flowering days. After foliar application of fertilizer, pectin content of different okra varieties in fruit, while cellulose content significantly decreased.Pectin and soluble protein contents in okra fruit significantly increased and cellulose content significantly decreased by aerobic irrigation at seedling stage. The pectin content of different okra varieties reached the highest on the fifth day after flowering.Cellulose content increased with the increase of harvesting time after flowering, while soluble protein content showed a trend of decrease or no obvious change with the increase of harvesting time after flowering.During the storage at 4 °C,the content of chlorophyll and pectin decreased, while the content of cellulose increased.Content of soluble protein decreased first and then increased and then decreased. In summary, the most suitable time for picking okra is 4-5 days after flowering, and it is recommended to eat within 2 days after picking.
