The purpose of this study is to observed the effects of different levels of Flos Lonicerae-Baikal Skullcap(FLBS)and Astragalus Polysacharin(APS)on growth performance, egg quality, serum indices, detection rate of Salmonella in organs and intestinal microflora of laying hens under normal and Salmonella challenge conditions,in order to provide theoretical basis for production practice.Specific research contents are divided into the following two aspects.Exp.1:This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of combined addition of FLBS and APS on performance, egg quality, serum biochemistry indexes of laying hens.Four hundred and thirty-two healthy Hy-Line Grey laying hens at 43-week-old were randomly allotted into 4 groups with 6 replicates of 18 in each replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet and the other three groups were fed the basal diets supplemented with 100 mg/kg FLBS+100 mg/kg APS(F1B1),100mg/kg FLBS+200 mg/kg APS(F1B2),100 mg/kg FLBS+400 mg/kg APS(F1B4).The feeding trail lasted for 12 weeks after an 1 week. The results were showed as follows:1)There was no significant difference in laying performance and egg quality among groups(P>0.05).2)Compared with the control group, the total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)significantly increased in F1B2 and F1B4 at the end of 6th week(P<0.05).The serum malondialdehyde(MDA)content significantly decreased in F1B2and F1B4 groups(P<0.05),while the superoxide dismutase(SOD)content significantly increased(P<0.05).3)At the 6~thh week end,the uric acid(UA)content significantly decreased in F1A2 group(P<0.05),and the total cholesterol(TC)content significantly decreased in F1A1 and F1A2 group compared with the control(P<0.05).Compared with the control, the serum UA and triglyceride(TG)content significantly decreased in F1A2 and F1A4 group and the glucose(GLU)content significantly increased at the end of 12th week(P<0.05).In conclusion, dietary supplementation with FLBS and APS increased antioxidant activity, decreased UA and TG contents and increased GLU level in serum of laying hens. The treatments of F1B1and F1B2 may help to gain best effects.Exp.2:This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of FLBS on performance, egg quality, serum biochemistry indexes of laying hens.Three hundred and sixty healthy JingHong laying hens at 41-week-old were randomly allotted into 5 groups with 6 replicates of 12 hens per replicates. The control group was fed a basal diet and the other three groups were fed the basal diets supplemented with 250 mg/kg FLBS(F2.5),500mg/kg FLBS(F5),1000 mg/kg FLBS(F10).The feeding trial lasted for 8 weeks after an 1 week adaptation period Positive control(PC)and test groups were orally challenged with Salmonella pullorum(1×10~9 CFU/ml)two days in a row and continued to be raised for four weeks. The results were showed as follows:1)Compared with the PC group, various levels of FLBS significantly increased laying rate and average daily feed intake during 5~8 weeks(P<0.05),but significantly decreased feed/egg ratio(P<0.05),and significantly increased(P<0.05)laying rate and average daily feed intake(P<0.05)in the whole period(1~8 weeks).2)FLBS significantly increased eggshell strength(P<0.05).3)Compared with PC group,FLBS decreased serum glutamic oxalacetic transaminase(AST),glutamic-pyruvic transaminase(ALT),TC and UA levels and increased total protein(TP)levels of laying hens(P<0.05).4)SOD activity in F2.5 and F5 groups was increased significantly compared with the control group(P<0.05).5)Serum IgG level in F2.5,F5 and F10 groups was significantly higher than that in PC group(P<0.05).6)The relative expression of ileal IL-10 in F10 group was significantly higher than that in PC group(P<0.01).The relative expressions of ileal IL-1?,IL-8,INF-?and TNF-?were significantly lower than those in PC group(P<0.01).7)Compared with the PC group, the frequency of Salmonella-positive liver, spleen and heart samples in F5 group was significantly lower(P<0.05).8)Compared with the control group, serum endotoxin content in the experimental group decreased significantly(P<0.05).9)The diversity of intestinal microorganisms in NC group was significantly higher than that in PC group and F10 group(P<0.05).It is concluded that FLBS can alleviate the negative effects of Salmonella on production performance, egg quality and intestinal function as well as improve humoral immunity,,liver and kidney function in laying hens. The addition of 1 000 mg/kg FLBS may help to gain superior effects in this experiment.
