Timber forest is a kind of forest which is built for the purpose of rapid growth and good timber production.Larix kaempferi has become a major timber tree species in eastern Liaoning Province because of its rapid growth,heavy material,moderate hardness and strong resistance to decay.In this study,Larix kaempferi stands in eastern Liaoning Province were managed with different measures and continuous observation was carried out.A series of management techniques including site conditions,provenance selection,initial value density,mixed mode and management measures were studied and analyzed to cultivate high quality Japan for Eastern Liaoning Province.Technical support and theoretical basis for larch timber forests are provided.The results as followed:(1)Shady slope,semi-shady slope,semi-sunny slope,downhill position and slope below 15 degrees,soil thickness above 50 cm is the most suitable site type for cultivation of Larix kaempferi timber forest.(2)The superior provenances of Larix kaempferi from Huanren County have higher superiority,and they are most suitable for afforestation in the eastern mountainous areas of Liaoning Province.The volume per plant of hybrid larch is 12% higher than that of larch,and is suitable for promotion.(3)Through the analysis of different initial planting densities in eastern Liaoning,the suitable planting densities were determined to be 2500 plants/ha-4400 plants/ha.(4)Narrow-band mixed mode is suitable for Eastern Liaoning mountainous area,and the mixed ratio is 2:1 and 1:1.The broad-leaved tree species can choose Fraxinus mandshurica,Betula platyphylla and Populus davidiana.(5)The technical measures such as soil preparation,root water conservation and weeding can effectively promote stand growth and increase the survival rate and conservation rate of afforestation.(6)Transparent tending and growth tending thinning can significantly affect DBH growth and volume of Larix kaempferi timber forest.The bigger tending intensity is,the bigger the growth of individual plant of Larix kaempferi is.The interval of thinning should be 5-8 years.The best canopy density is about 0.7 after thinning.The suitable management density can be determined according to DBH and canopy size.
