The species of phytoseiid mites in wild Chinese wolfberry field in Bayan Nur city,Inner Mongolia, were investigated and identified in this paper, and the predation ability and predation preference of a new recorded species of Amblyseius andersoni Chant fed on Tetranychus truncatus and Bemisia tabaci Gennidius were evaluated and compared in laboratory. Moreover, the function response of female and male adults of A.andersoni on A ceria palida adults were explored to understand the predation potential of A.andersoni on various prey;finally, the life history of A.andersoni reared on six kinds of food adult of A.palida,A.palida gall,T.urticae,B.tabaci,pollen of poplar(Popnlus alba)and pollen of pine(Pinus tabuliformis)was determinded in laboratory. The results will provide a theoretical basis for the control of prey in the future. The results were as follows:(1)Three genera and four species of phytoseiid mite were found in wild Chinese wolfberry field in Bayan Nur city,Inner Mongolia, including A.andersoni Neoseiulus barkeri Hughes,N,neoreticuloides Liang et Hu,Euseius subplebeius Wu et Li,among which,A.andersoni is a new record species in China,N.barkeri has been described and is the dominant species in Inner Mongolia.(2)At 25? and RH=75%±5%,the daily predation of female adult of A.andersoni fed on T.urticae and B.tabaci showed that a female of A.andersoni consumed the highest larvae of T.truncatus up to 11.43±0.18 per day,and then followed by the predation on eggs of T.truncatus up to 9.61±0.24 per day;while A.andersoniconsumed the highest 1st instar nymph of B.tabaci up to 7.36±0.57 per day,and then followed by the daily predation of 2nd instar nymph of B.tabaci up to 6.15±0.54 per day.(3)Prey preference of A.andersoni to different stages of T.truncatus, and B.tabaci showed that a female adult of A.andersoni significantly prefered for larvae over eggs and nymph of T.truncatus(F2,57=6.287,p<0.001),and the preference coefficient to larvae of.truncatus was the highest,up to 0.87±0.02;a female of A.andersoni prefered 1st instar nymph to eggs of B.tabaci, and the preference coefficient to 1st instar nymph of B.tabaci was the highest(t=-24.278;df=19;p<0.001),up to 0.718±0.025.(4)The function response of female and male adults of A.andersoni on A.palida adults could be described as Holling ? type. The control ability of female adults of A.andersoni was strong with the maximum predation of female and maile adult was 57.00±4.37 and 33.17±0.65,respectively.The results showed that A.andersoni had potential to be a biocontrol agents for A.palida.(5)The life history of A.andersoni reared on six kinds of food indicated that the developmental duration of female adults of A.andersoni fed on B.tabaci was the longest,up to 7.05±0.07d;the developmental duration of male adults of A.andersoni fed on A.palida adults was the shortest(5.68±0.03d).The oviposition ofA andersoni fed on the T.truncatus was the highest, reached to 43.72±1.04 eggs/(?).The Average longevity of female and male adults of A.andersoni fed on Pine pollen was the shortest, which were 23.43±1.07d and 20.08±1.20d,respectively.The female average longevity and male average longevity of A.andersoni fed on A.palida adults was the longest with 39.84±1.51d and 25.85±0.94d,respectively;and net reproductive rate Ro and the intrinsic rate of increase rm were the highest, which were 35.740 and 0.1657,respectively.The result showed that the the adults of A.palida were more suitable for development and reproduction of A.andersoni.
