The major research areas in this paper are Huanggangliang National Nature Reserve(Huanggangliang),Saihanwula National Nature Reserve(Saihanwula)and Tejinhan Mountain National Nature Reserve(Tejinhan).Based on the data collected from sample plots with an area of hectare,The methods which is the combination of field investigation and laboratory experiment is used to analyze the characteristics of birch soil seed bank and its main influencing factors,such as different regions、different soil layers(litter layer,0~5cm soil layer,5~10cm soil layer)and different slope positions(upper slope,mid-slope,and slope).The results reveal that soil seed bank is significance to natural regeneration of forests in Hanshan secondary forest area.It provides a theoretical foundation for the sustainable development of forests in the Hanshan secondary forest area.Main work and results include:(1)Statistical results about soil seed bank show that the seeds are divided into three types:full seeds,dried seeds and rot seeds.The total seed population in the Tejinhan is significantly different from the Huanggangliang and the Saihanwula(p<0.05),the most seeds is in the Tejinhan,reaching 14439.3±3960.7(ind/m2);the number of seeds and the number of dried seeds are both Tejinhan>Saihanwula>Huanggangliang,the number of dried seeds is Teghan>Huanggangliang>Saihanwula.The characteristics of soil seed bank in different soil layers were analyzed.The number of soil seed banks in each soil layer of Hanshan secondary forest area was litter layer more rhan 0~5cm soil layer and more than 5~10cm soil layer.The result reveal that the slope position had no significant effect on the number of soil seed banks by Analysing soil seed bank characteristics of different slopes.and the number of seeds did not shows obvious law at different slope positions.(2)The number of viable seeds was the highest in litter layer,and there was a significant correlation between the number of viable seeds and litter layer thickness,herb cover degree and soil surface water.Most of the regenerated seedlings were sprouted seedlings,and there were almost no seedlings.Huanggangliang has the most seedlings(3)The result by Analysing the main factors which affect the soil seed bank show that:In addition to the interaction among the study area,soil layer and study area*,the stand density、shrub cover and soil surface water also have significant influence to the numbers of soil seed banks.
