poplar Short rotation coppice culture systems provide raw materials to production of pellet fuel and bio-alcohol fuels. The biomass of poplar was in good power relationship with the diameter of stem at 22cm(D22),so that the biomass of the harvest can be accurately estimated. The energy conversion rate of raw materials for the production of bio-alcohol fuels is directly related to cellulose. In this paper, the effects of two kinds of poplar on the growth of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin in three different planting densities and two different rotation periods were studied.,to explore the more suitable poplar clonal clones, planting density, rotation cycle. In this paper,we also sampled the root system and laid the foundation for the subsequent investigation of the response of the root system to the stubble process.Below are key research findings:(1)Establish a power function model and verify later, the biomass models of the two poplars were y=0.078x2.6336,R2=0.9686;y=0.1768x2-4089,R2=0.9407.(2)The average annual biomass of Populus x euramericana cv.’74/76’ was higher than that of triploid Populus tomentosa B301,but the difference was not significant. The highest annual biomass yield was 2 years and the planting density was 20000/hm2 stand(14.44t/hm2·a)The average annual biomass yield was the lowest in the rotation period of 2 years and the planting density of 5000/hm2 triploid Populus tomentosa B301 stand(7.15t/hm2·a).(3)The decrease of planting density or the growth time increased the cellulose content of triploid Populus tomentosa B301.In order to obtain the maximum annual stand for the purpose of cellulose production for the purpose of using triploid Populus tomentosa B301 clones, rotation cycle set to 3 years, the density set to 10000/hm2 more appropriate.(4)In the vertical direction of 100cm,40%-50%of the fine roots of poplar were mainly distributed in the 0-20cm,3 different planting densities in Populus x euramericana cv.’74/76’ total FRBD are more triploid poplar B301 50%-100%.The FRBD of the two species of poplar stands at the second peak in the 70-100 cm soil layer.
