Study On Preservation Of Cut Bamboo And Peony Flower Arrangement Process

As the popular Chinese traditional plants,bamboo and peony are widely used in flower arrangement.But there were few reports on cut bamboo research,and the research of peony preservation had paid more attention to the harvesting,storage,transportation and vase life,lack of research during flower arrangement and maintenance process.In this research,the bamboo species suitable for flower arrangement were screened and the preservation methods of cut bamboo were explored through the investigation and evaluation of common ornamental bamboo species,the study of vase life and related physiological indexes of cut bamboo.We also studied the preservation in the process of flower arrangement by investigation and experiment.The main results showed as follows:(1)The bamboo species suitable for flower arrangement were selected from the morphological perspective on the basis of field investigation.The 12 species were:Bambusa eutuldoides var.viridi-vittata,Thyrsostachys siamensis,Bambusa textilis,Bambusa vulgaris 'Vittata',Bambusa multiplexb'Alphonse-Kar',Bambusa multiplex var.riviereorum,Phyllostachys nidularia,Bambusa corniculata,Bambusa pachinensis,Phyllostachys aureosuleata f.spectabilis,Bambusa multiplex 'Fernleaf,Bambusa ventricosa in South China.The 8 species were Phyllostachys nigra,Phyllostachys bambusoides f.lacrima-deae,Phyllostachys aureosuleata f.spectabilis,Phyllostachys aureosulcata,Bambusa multiplex Alphonse-Kar ',Phyllostachys propinqua,Bambusa vulgaris 'Vittata',Bambusa ventricosa in Beijing.On this basis,the life of different bamboo species were measured.In autumn,Bambusa eutuldoides var.viridi-vittata,Bambusa ventricosa,Bambusa textilis,Phyllostachys aureosuleata f.spectabilis in southern China had longer lifespan,which were 6.1 days,5.5 days,4.8 days and 4.6 days.In summer,Phyllostachys aureosulcata,Bambusa ventricosa,Phyllostachys aureosuleata f.spectabilis,Phyllostachys bambusoides f.lacrima-deae,Phyllostachys nigra,Phyllostachyspropinqua in Beijing had life spans ranges from 8 to 10 days.And they were suitable for flower arrangement.(2)There were positive correlation between the diameter of stem and the lifespan for bamboo species.The harvesting season was also one of the important factors for cut bamboo lifespan,the vase life was 8.7 days in summer,6.5 days in spring and 4.4 days in autumn.(3)Both pulse solution treatments and spray preservative could extend the vase life of cut bamboo.Nano-silver as a 50mg/L 1h pulse treatment significantly(P?0.05)extended the vase life from 8.7 days to 14.0 days,Baokang leafshine could extended the vase life to 11.4 days.(4)The decline of water absorption capacity was one of the reason for cut Phyllostachys propinqua senescence.Nano-silver treatment significantly improved the water absorption,thus delaying the senescence of cut bamboo.The water absorption,water loss and relative fresh weight were the indicator to measure the senescence degree of cut bamboo.The soluble protein content and MDA content were related to the vase life of cut bamboo,but the correlation between the chlorophyll content and vase life was not obvious.The activity of protective enzymes SOD and POD increased,and the activity of CAT decreased gradually,which showed a certain correlation with the senescence of cut bamboo.(5)Chrysal clear improved the water balance relationship,and significantly improve the ornamental life and quality of 14 cut peony cultivars,thus was suitable for applying in flower arrangement.Among the three different fixation methods,the ornamental life of the peony cultivar using the flower foam was 0.5 and 1 day longer than vases and kenzan respectively.From the perspective of ornamental life,the suitable way to fix the peony flower was flower foam.(6)The test tube with a capacity of 60 ml was suitable for use in flower arrangement.The number of flower in each tube was 1?2,and the number of maintenance is 1?2 times.In this study,the preservation technology and senescence physiology of bamboo were studied systematically for the first time,and the suitable species and methods of preservation were slected.The preservation methods of peony flower arrangement exhibition were explored.The results of this study can directly support the application of Chinese.traditional flowers in flower arrangement.
