As one of the most water-short cities in the country,Beijing has a per capita water resource of about 161m3,which is only 1/15th of the country's per capita water resources and l/47th of the world's per capita water resources(7500m3).During the "12th Five-Year Plan" period,the total area of forest land in Beijing increased by 35,300 hm2,and the forest coverage rate in Beijing increased from 37%in the early stage of the plan to 41.6%at the end of the plan.The contradiction between the huge demand for water resources in the "13th Five-Year Plan”and the new round of one million mu of afforestation projects in Beijing and the actual situation of severe water shortage in Beijing has become a major constraint on Beijing's ecology civilization construction and sustainable urban development.This article has identified the water use status and problems faced by Beijing's landscape afforestation industry by consulting literature,doing surveys and other methods.Through interdisciplinary research,case analysis and other methods,the application and standards for water saving and rainwater harvesting technology for landscaping in China and abroad were described.Based on the topography features,soil structure and climate in Beijing,a variety of water-saving and rain-collection technique methods were designed,and the applicability of these methods and the lack and merits were evaluated.These methods include:?sunken green spaces,rainwater infiltration pipes(canals),rainwater infiltration wells,gravel water collection columns,and embedded grass surfaces suitable for greenland;?sunken tree holes,water storage bank,sand and gravel collecting water column,ecological pad,garden mulch,tree hole coating,water absorbing agent,solid water and hilly area water gathering land preparation technology suitable for forest lands;?rainwater storage facilities:large open rainwater storage tank,rainwater garden,artificial rainwater tank,rainwater storage module.And with the analysis and evaluation of the classic case of the application of water saving and rainwater harvesting technology in the Beijing Olympic Park,we will add reference to the practical application of water saving and rainwater harvesting technology in landscaping.
