Paenibacillus polymyxa has been extensively studied for agricultural applications as a plant-growth-promoting rhizobacterium and is also an important biocontrol agent.Our team has developed the first microbial biopesticide using.polymyxa strain HY96-2 from the tomato rhizosphere,based on.polymyxa for controlling plant diseases around the world,leading to the commercialization of this microbial biopesticide in China.However,further research is essential for understanding its precise biocontrol mechanisms.In this work,we have unfolded genomic research,overexpression strains construction,and transcriptome analysis of HY96-2.The research results showed biocontrol mechanisms of.polymyxa HY96-2 which can be summarized as follows:(1)Prevent early infection of the plant could through biofilm formation which regulated by many genes,and over expression of luxS gene in.polymyxa HY96-2 promotes biofilm formation;(2)Synthesis of fusaricidins and paenilarvins to against fungal plant pathogens,and the secretion of polymyxin,tridecaptin,and polyketide antibiotics with activity against G-bacteria plant pathogens and the production of mersacidin,kalimantacin,and bacitracin with activity against G+bacteria plant pathogens;(3).polymyxa could produce volatile organic compounds(2,3-butanediol,methanethiol,isoprene,etc.)to induce systemic resistance of plants by up-regulated expression of genes involving synthesis of wound-induced proteinase inhibitor,pectinesterase and inositol-3-phosphate synthase,etc.,promoting expression of genes involving antioxidant activity and down-regulated expression of genes involving hydrolytic enzymes,etc.This study combines the results of genomic research,overexpression strains construction and transcriptome analysis to comprehensively analyze the biocontrol mechanism of HY96-2 and provides a scientific basis for the further optimization of the field applications and quality standards of industrial microbial biopesticides based on HY96-2.
