Bioactivities Of Cinnamon Essential Oils To Sitophilus Zeamais And Scanning Electron Microscopic Observations Of Antennal Sensilla

Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky belongs to Coleoptera,Curculionidae,it is the important early storage pests,which is ranked the number one destructive pests in stored grain.The purpose of this study was to measure bioactivities of Cinnamon essential oils to Sitophilus zeamais,while we use scanning electron microscope(SEM)to observe the morphology and ulteast rucyure of antenna and sensilla of Sitophilus zeamais,The main results were as follows:Fumigation effect of Cinnamon essential oils to Sitophilus zeama have been investigated at different times;At the same concentration,with the increase of time,the death rate of Sitophilus zeama adult is on the rise.In the different concentration,the effect of fumigation is different.Cinnamon essential oils caused above 91%mortality of Sitophilus zeama adult after being treated for 72h at 2.8?L/L;after being treated for 24h?48h and 72h,median lethal concentration of Sitophilus zeama adults treated with Cinnamon essential oils were 2.09?L/L,1.75?/L and 1.33?L/L.So we can increase the time of fumigation.The antennas of Sitophilus zeamais are geniculate that comprised of scape,pedicel and flagellum with 6 flagellomeres.Three types of sensilla are distinguished:two subtypes of sensilla trichodea(ST)?two subtypes of sensilla basiconica(SB)and two subtypes of sensilla chaeticanica(SC),Sensilla trichodeas(ST)are distributed everywhere except the sixth flagellum,sensilla basiconica(SB)and sensilla chaeticanica(SC)are distributed in the sensor clusters of sixth flagellum.sensilla basiconicas(SB)are around the sensor clusters,while sensilla chaeticanicas(SC)are longer and more,they are in middle of the sensor clusters.There exist no sexual dimorphisms in types,distribution and density between male and femals.
