Study On Popularization Of Simiao Type Hybrid Rice In Xijiang River Valley

Guangdong province is the province with the heaviest proportion production of Simiao type hybrid rice,where the planting area accounts up to 50% of the country.Meanwhile,Guangdong province is the main production area of hybrid rice in the world and the areas with relatively large consumption.The Simiao type hybrid rice bred in the Xijiang River Valley of Guangdong province,in which shows several excellent characteristics: good quality,unique appearance,rich nutrition,good taste,unique rice cooking technology and has a good match with cantonese cuisine.Furthermore,the taste of Simiao type hybrid rice is in accordance with Guangdong and other Southerners’ eating habits of long rice,making more market demand and consumption.Meanwhile,the Simiao type hybrid rice easier to plant than conventional Simiao trype rice,and shows longer production cycle that can be planted two seasons a year,which made planting efficiency high.On the basis of the theories of agricultural extension innovation diffusion and regional economic development,the methods of literature reviews,field investigation and the combination of comparative analysis,the investigation of related scientific research institutions,companies and growers.We analyzed the planting and popularizing situations of Simiao type hybrid rice in Xijiang River Valley of Guangdong province.The problems such as the low acceptance of promotional objects,the low enthusiasm of farmers to grow grain,the short industrial chain,the insignificant brand effect and the low promotion effectiveness happen during the process of popularization.Based on these problems,several well-directed moves have been introduced such as to strengthen the construction of social service system,enhance farmers’ cognitive ability through multiple channels,extend the industrial chain,improve the circulation system and market construction,strengthen the cultivation and support of leading enterprises,promote the sustainable development of industry,strengthen the promotion system construction,and accelerate land circulation and promote intensive mechanized planting.Ensure an all-round and sustainable development of Simiao type hybrid rice in Guangdong province.
