Pine wood nematode disease is a destructive disease of pine trees caused by Bursaphelenchus xylophilus.Monochamus alternatus is the main vector of pine wood nematode disease in China.Based on the pine wood nematode disease prevention and control project of Taining County,Fujian Province from 2012 to 2014,the population dynamics of M.alternatus and the comprehensive control experiment of pine wood nematode disease were carried out,and the influencing factors and the control effect of pine wood nematode disease were analyzed,which provided the basis for effectively controlling the spread of the epidemic situation.The population dynamics of the adults of M.alternatus in Taining County from 2012 to 2014 was investigated by trapping method.The results showed that the peak of the adult population of M.alternatus appeared in June,followed by May,July,August,September and October,and the adult amount from May to July was more than that other months.This stage was the key period for controlling M.alternatus and pine wilt disease.Temperature was not the main factor affecting the emergence of M.altrnatus adults during the emergence season,but the increase of water content was beneficial to the emergence under high temperature in summer.The mixed degree and types of mixed forests affect the occurrence of M.alternatus.The population density of M.altrnatus in Shan town and Zhukou town was significantly higher than that in the two towns of Shang Qing and Mei Kou.Comprehensive technical measures were taken for three consecutive years in 4 areas with a total area of 8 852 mu of pine wood nematode disease in Taining County from 2012 to 2014.The decline rate of dead pine trees in each area fluctuated from 68.41%to 85.17%in 2013,while the decline rate of dead pine trees in each area in 2014 was higher than 97%.The results showed that the comprehensive technical measures of clearing dead pine trees,trapping M.alternatus adults,spraying Beauveria bassiana(or Metarhizium anisopliae)and spraying thiabendazole could effectively prevent and control pine wood nematode disease,and could be widely applied in production.But the key is to clean up pine dead wood and efficiently trap M.alternatus adults.Adopting the above technical measures to.prevent and control Bursaphelenchus xylophilus is a long-term work.
