Study On Vatica Mangachapoi Forest Of Mt.Mihouling,Hainan

As the characteristic tree species and constructive species of tropical rain forests in Asia,Vatica mangachapoi is one of the representative,key and dominant flora components of tropical rain forests.It is of a great scientific impotance to make a research on the Vatica mangachapoi.The species diversity is rich in Mt.Mihouling of Hainan.And large patches of Vatica mangachapoi communities are well protected.Field surveys on Vatica mangachapoi communities of Mt.Mihouling were carried out based on plots exploration.The species composition,physiognomy,community structure,species diversity,community dynamics and distribution patterns of the Vatica mangachapoi forest were analyzed.The results showed that:(1)There were 223 species of vascular plants,belonging to 148 genera and 69 families,in the Vatica mangachapoi forest of Mt.Mihouling.There were 5 ferns belonging to 5families and 5 genera;1 gymnosperm;and 217 angiosperms,belonging to 63 families and142 genera.(2)The distribution of seed plants species of the Vatica mangachapoi forest was dominated by tropical distribution families such as Valerianaceae,Euphorbiaceae,Fabaceae,Polygonaceae and Annona,and 63 families of seed plants were divided into 9 distribution types and 3 variants.There were 46 species in the tropical distribution families,accounting for 93.87%of the total number of non-worldly distribution families.At the generic level,the 139 genera could be divided into 10 distribution types and 6 variants,and tropical Asian and pantropical elements were the dominant components,in which tropical Asian genera and pantropical genera all contributed 24.46%of the total(excluding cosmopolitan genera).There was 1 genus endemic to China.(3)The community appearance of the Vatica mangachapoi forest is mainly evergreen.The community structure can be divided into arbor layer,shrub layer,herb layer and interlayer plant,the stratification at each level is obvious,the herb layer species were rare,and the vine species were rich.The community was dominated by the small diameter class(below 12 cm),and the average plant height was below 15m.There were 12,241individuals of Vatica mangachapoi based on the area of 12,500 m~2.(4)Community characteristics and population dynamics were maded by means of richness index,species diversity index and evenness index.Plot 1 area of the richness index,Simpson index,Shannon-Wienner index,Pielow index showed a trend of shrub>tree,all the rest of the sample area appears as arbor>shrub.The species diversity of plot 5 was the highest one,and the dominant species was not obvious.(5)Compared with four neighboring areas,Mt.Mihouling showed high similarity with that of Mt.Bawangling and Wanning of Hainan in terms of community structure,species diversity,forest age composition,and community dynamics processes,and low similarity with that of Mt.Jianfengling of Hainan and Xishuangbanna of Yunnan.And Mt.Mihouling showed the highest similarity with Mt.Bawangling compared with Wanning by lower species richness,uneven distribution,and low species diversity.Vatica mangachapoi forests were very rare in Hainan.As a type of secondary vegetation of the Vatica mangachapoi forest of Mt.Mihouling formed after deforestation,there was great important research value on community successions and restoration for tropical rainforests in Hainan.However,the influence of human factors greatly affected the the Vatica mangachapoi forest of Mt.Mihouling.
