This study consists of two experiments. The traditional diet and its nutrient concentration fed to Huyang sheep on a sheep farm of Anhui Province was analyzed in the experiment 1.The application effects of the developed concentrate supplement on finishing Huyang sheep were studied in the experiment 2.In the experiment 1,72 healthy and similar body weight finishing Huyang sheep were selected in an Anhui sheep farm. They were reared on 6 sheep beds and every bed contained 12 sheep. The diet and its components fed to the sheep were measured for 10 days. The results were as follows: average weight of the Huyang sheep is 24.20±2.27kg;The daily intake of DM was only 805.26 g,65.9 to 259.6g less than the feeding standard of meat-type sheep of NY/816-2004;the average daily intake of DE was 7.15 MJ,3.01~8.14 MJ less than the feeding standard;the average daily intake of CP was 90.53 g,26.60 to 72.09 g less than the feeding standard;average daily intake of Co(<1.74μg)was much less than feeding standard(0.20~0.35mg);the corresponding daily average intakes of Ca and P(10.22 g and 6.00g)were 145.52% and 82.37% more than the feeding standard, respectively;the corresponding daily intakes of Fe and Mn(698.52 mg and 229.32mg)were much more than the feeding standard;the average daily intake of Zn(83.96mg)was slightly more than the feeding standard;the corresponding daily average intakes of VE(5.40 mg)and Cu(6.15 mg)were 55.02% and 44.05% less than the feeding standard, respectively;the daily intakes of S and Se reached the feeding standard. The results proved that the nutrient contents of the actual diet does not accord with the nutritive requirements of Huyang sheep. In the experiment 2,120 healthy and similar body weight Huyang sheep were selected.Based on the principle of the same proportion of male to female, they were randomly divided into two groups: the control group and the experimental group,60 sheep every group. They were reared in 8 sheep beds and every sheep bed served as a repeat, every sheep bed contained 15 sheep. The control group sheep were fed to the basal diet consisted of large-volume feeds and the concentrate supplements of the sheep farm. The diet of experimental group sheep comprised a large-volume diet(the same with the control group)and the concentrate supplements developed by our research group. The feeding experimental period was 60 d.The experimental results were as follows:(1)In the control group,1 sheep died from diarrhea and a few sheep were in poor appetite;but the sheep in the experimental group were all in good health.(2)ADG of the experimental group sheep increased by 37.95% compared with the control group(P<0.01).(3)Compared with the control group, glucose in serum of the experimental group sheep increased by 15.17%(P<0.05),GOT activities in serum decreased by 37.52%(P<0.01),GPT activities in serum increased by 5.14%(P>0.05),TP in serum decreased by 7.11%(P>0.05),BUN in serum decreased by 2.04%(P>0.05),Cho in serum decreased by 3.46%(P>0.05),TG in serum decreased by 15.09%(P>0.05).There were no significant differences(P<0.05)in the contents of mineral elements such as Ca,Cu,Fe,K,Mg,Mn,Na and Zn in serum between the two groups.(4)In the experimental group, the feed cost(10.49 yuan/kg)per kilogram of weight gain reduced by 19.56% compared with the control group(13.04 yuan/kg)and the net feed cost savings was 2.55 yuan. The results showed that the concentrate supplement developed by our group was better than the concentrate supplement of the sheep farm.
