Drought Resistance Of Several Apple Rootstocks And Effect Of Rootstocks On Fruit Quality Of Red Fuji

Apple reproduction via grafting,and rootstocks play a significant role on the growth of apple trees,as well as on the productive yield and fruit quality.Rootstocks affect the growth rate of scion trees,which also can enhance the resistance ability to drought,cold,salt and pests of apple trees.Yunnan Province is located in the southwest of China,because of its differential natural conditions such as climate and soil,the rootstocks importing from abroad or domestic are not well adapted to the new condition.In order to solve the difficulty in water supplying,rootstocks were used to detect the resistance of drought.In this study,investigation on the apple growth were performed in apple orchard in Yunnan province.Secondly,the drought resistance of some rootstocks were detected.Finally,the suitable rootstock to Fuji was evaluated by detecting the apple fruit quality obtaining from different rootstocks.The main results were as follows: 1.Survey on apple trees growth in apple orchards.The survey on apple trees growth were from the aspects of irrigation system,soil management,fertilizer using,prevention and resistance to plant diseases and insect pests,pesticide using.In conclusion,the better managed of apple orchards were Malong orchards.2.Drought resistance of several apple rootstocks were analyzed.In order to identify the rootstock which is suitable for planting in different orchards,drought resistance of some rootstocks were detected.In this study,the potted water controlling methods were used.The results showed that the better drought resistance of rootstocks were Malus rockii,tea crabapple,Qingzhen No.2,Zhaotong crabapple and Malus Xiaojinesis,respectively.3.Effect of different rootstocks on fruit quality of red Fuji.At present,the main cultivation variety of apple trees was red Fuji in orchards.However,the rootstocks were multiple,i.g.M.rockii,Zhaotong crabapple and M9T337,etc.In order to select which rootstocks were more suitible for red Fuji,the weight of single fruit,the hardness and tasting of fruit were measured using Fuji fruits from different rootstocks.The results showed that the better rootstocks were M.rockii,Zhaotong crabapple and JM7,respectively.
