Corchorus capsularis L,a kind of corchorus herbaceous bast fiber crop,plays an important role in hemp crops.Tomato(Lycopersicon enculentum Mill.),Solanum annual or perennial herbaceous plant of Solanum family.In this study,two kinds of drought treatments were applied to seedlings and prosperous jute,like the maximum water holding capacity in the field,T1(65%-75%),and T2(45%-55%),normal treatment(75%-80%)was the control group.Along with tomato seeds treatment by different concentrations of PEG solution.By studying the above-mentioned changes of growth indexes and physiological growth indexes of the two crops under drought stress,the laws of growth and physiological changes of jute and tomato seeds adapted to drought stress were obtained,which provided a theoretical reference for future production practices.Followings are the initially obtained research results:1.Drought stress had significant effects on seedling growth indexes.Different drought stress(T1,T2)had a significant effect on jute height at 15 days;drought stress significantly influenced jute stem diameter,leaf number,and root length,but stem diameter was thicker during drought treatments period.There was no significant difference in the number of leaves.After 5 days of drought stress treatment,the growth indexes of jute showed strong resilience,which directly reflected the drought-resistance potential of jute seedlings.2.The POD activity of jute was stable under the same drought stress at different stress times,but there was a significant difference between T1,T2,and CK at 5,10,and15 stress days.The activity of POD in T2 treatment was the highest,after rehydration treatment,the POD activity of stress Group was declined.With the intensification of drought stress and duration of drought stress time,the contents of proline and MDA in jute plant quickly increased,but after rewatering,they quickly returned to normal levels,while the proline content of control treatment was significantly lower than that of T1 and T2 treatment,and the change was light.In addition,with the increase of drought stress and prolongation of stress time,the increase of MDA content in jute seedlings was less than that of free proline,after rewatering,it quickly returned to normal level and there was no significant difference with CK.3.Drought stress had a significant effect on quickly growth indexes.Jute still showed growth under two stress treatments,but its growth rate was significantly lower than the control;Drought stress for 5 days,stem diameter difference of drought treatment and control stem diameter were not significantly,stress for 10 days,the control was significantly higher than the drought treatment,but there was no significant difference between the drought treatments group.Drought stress significantly affected the number of leaves,but there was no significant difference in T1 and T2 within 10days' drought stress,and there was a significant difference after 15 days of stress.Drought stress also significantly affected root length.After 5 days' rewatering to drought stress treatment,jute growth indexes showed strong resilience,which directly reflected the drought-resistance potential of jute seedlings.4.After 5 days' drought stress,there was no significant difference in POD activity of quickly group drought treatment and control.When the stress was more than 10 days,there was a significant difference in peroxidase activity between control and treatment T1,T2,but no significant difference between drought treatment group;Drought stress has significant improved the MDA content in jute and it increased with the prolongation of drought time and aggravation of drought degree.The content of malondialdehyde in treatment T2 increased to the maximum after 15 days' drought stress.After 5 days of rehydration,the contents of T1 and T2 MDA rapidly decreased to CK levels,and T1 was significantly lower than the control,showing a great resilience.Drought significantly affected free proline content in quickly growth jute,but there was no significant difference in free proline content between the two drought treatment groups.After rehydration,the free proline content of drought stress decreased,but it was still significantly higher than that of the control.5.Under the stress of 5% PEG concentration,the germination potential,radicle length and fresh shoot weight of tomato seeds all showed the highest,it's higher than the control group.The seed germination rate was not significantly different with the control,and the initial germination days were not affected.Therefore,5% PEGconcentration can be used as the optimum concentration for tomato seeds germination under drought conditions.When the PEG concentration was increased to 25%,the tomato seeds germination rate was 0,which was the lethal concentration of tomato seeds germination.
