The total amount of storage proteins and their ratios among different compontents are the key factors influence the quality of wheat.It was influenced by genotypes and their interactions with environment.In this study,28 Sichuan wheat cultivars(lines)were selected for field experiments at three different ecological locations at Ya’an,Wenjiang and Renshou in Sichuan Province at two consecutive years.To elucidate the impact of genotypes,environmental variations and their interaction effects on the total protein content,the amount and their rations for storage proteins,we investigated the total protein content of wheat flours by Kjeldah determination and the storage proteins by Reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography(RP-HPLC)methods.The main results were as follows:1.Wheat storage proteins can be separated into different components by RP-HPLC.The gliadins can be divided into 28-34 different components:about 15 different components for α-and β-gliadins,which were account for the largest amount in the storage proteins and could not be separated from each other for similar hydrophobicty,about 9-12 components for ω-gliadin,and 6-9 components for y-gliadin.The elution orders for high molecular weight glutenin subunits were 1Dy separated first,then followed by 1By(except 1By8),1Dx,1Bx,and lAx for the last.The HMW-GSs of lAxl,1Bx6,1Bx7,1Bx20,1By8,1By20,1Dx2,1Dx5,1Dy10,and 1Dy12 could be well separated using the RP-HPLC method while it was not easy to separated the HMW-GS pairs of 1Dx2 and 1By9,and 1Dx5 and 1By9.The compositions of gliadins and glutenins within cultivars(lines)were not influenced by environmental effects but their contents were largely influenced by environmental effects,and both the composition and content of the gliadin and glutenin among cultivars(lines)were influenced by environmental effects.2.The variance and multiple comparative analysis of storage protein content and protein content of cultivars(lines)were analysed.The results shown that the interaction effects between locations and years had the greatest effects on the gliadin content,and the years had the greatest effects on the content of glutenin and storage proteins and protein content.The results also shown that the storage proteins and protein content were influenced by genotypes,environmental effects and the interactions between genotypes and environmental effects.The environmental effects had the greatest influence on the storage proteins.3.Among all of the cultivars(lines),the storage protein content and the flour protein of Chuan 27 xuan,Chuanmai 44,Chuannong 16,Mianmai 37,Neimai 9,Shumai 375,Yumai 1 hao and Zhengmai 9023 among locations were more stable and less influenced by the environmental effects.Besides,four cultivars(Chuanmai 44,Chuan 27 xuan,Yumai 1 hao and Zhengmai 9023)have relatively higher glutenin content and lower gliadin content than other cultivars.
