In fungi,two-component signaling system is involved in the regulation of cell osmotic, fungal mycelium morphology, growth, pathogenicity, fungicide resistance, oxidative stress and so on.But it has not been found a two-component signal components in the animal genome sequence now, which makes the signal system designs could become potential targets of anti-fungal and bacterial pathogens. In eukaryotes, the most in-depth study of the two-component signaling system is Saccharomyces cerevisiae.Genomic sequence analysis showed that S.cerevisiae only contains one two-component histidine kinase, filamentous fungus may be containing a family of 11 HKs,and rice blast fungus has ten histidine kinases. For revealing of the pathogenic mechanism of rice blast fungus and developing of new fungicides, this paper decide to study the other genes of HKs.There are articles already reported gene function of two-component HKs in rice blast fungus, including rice blast fungus HIK1 belonged to histidine kinases Group?,its deletion mutants show normal growth and pathogenicity, but have acquired resistance to three kinds of fungicides;and MoSLNl belonged to GroupVI,as a virulence factor involved in the regulation of cell osmotic pressure cell wall integrity and peroxidase functions. However, function of the other eight histidine kinase show unknown in rice blast fungus. The genes expression of ten HKs in hypertonic stress and saline stress were investigated and found that some genes were up regulated by hypertonic stress and down regulated by saline stress. At present, two genes of MoHik2 and MoHik3 have been knocked out and the mutants have a functional analysis.Furthermore, the deletion mutant of group ? HK,MoHik2 in M.oryzae appear the lower growth rate and yield of conidium, deformity of spore morphology and weakened pathogenicity. But the deletion of Group? HK,MoHik3 did not affect fungal development and pathogenicity. The study showed that HKs in M.oryzae have diverse functions.
