In order toimprove the production level of beef cattle farmsin the existing feeding mode, while reduce the pollution to the environment. This experiment takes Aloe powder as additive of beef cattle feeding, investigate the effects of Aloe powderon the growth performance, dry matter intake, nitrogen and phosphorus and enteric methane emissions of beef cattle.Twenty-four healthy male Simmental crossbred beef cattle(average weight is 242.50 ±34.28 kg)with the same age group and similar weight were selected in this experiment.Randomly and equally assigned to the three experimental treatments: Experiment group A(Control groups, basal diet);Experiment group B(Aloe ? group, basal diet + 8 g·(head·d)-1Aloe powder);Experiment group C(Aloe ? group, basal diet + 16 g·(head·d)-1Aloe powder).Test is divided into two parts: Measure enteric methane and Metabolism experiment. The feeding experiment lasted 42 d.The first day to the30 th day for adaptation;the 31 th daytothe 35 th day, each group selects 5 test cattle for measurement enteric methane;the 35 th dayto the 42 th day, each group selects 4 test cattle for metabolism experiments.Experiment 1: The experimental animals were fed with tethered system,5:00 and 17:00 were fed daily, quantitative provides diet and ensure the right amount of remaining feed.Casted infiltrations to rumen in the 25 thday of the feeding period and collected methane gas since 31 th day,SF6 tracer method wasused to measure enteric methane emission rate of beef cattle. The results showed that:The daily methane emissions from the experimental cattle of A,B,C three groups were287.20 L·d-1,214.16 L·d-1,142.23 L·d-1respectively.group C was significantly lower than group A(P < 0.05),no significant difference between group Aand B or group B and C(P > 0.05).The methane emissions of unit intake were27.04L·(d·kg)-1?20.21L·(d·kg)-1?14.29L·(d·kg)-1respectively,group C was significantly lower than that of group A(P < 0.05),no significant difference between group Aand B or group B and C(P > 0.05).The methane emissions of unit weight were 1.00L·kg-1?0.79L·kg-1?0.50L·kg-1 respectively, group C was extremely significantly lower than group A(P <0.01),no significant difference between group Aand B or group B and C(P > 0.05).The result shows that, appropriate doses of Aloe powderwas added in the diet can effectively reduce the entericmethane emissions of beef cattle.Experiment 2:Each cattle was weighted on an empty stomach before the experiment and recorded the data.Metabolic test was taken with full feces and urine collection method in the 39 th day during the experiment.Effects of Aloe powder on nitrogen, phosphorus emissions and nutrient apparentdigestibility and growth performance of beef cattle were analyzed. After the full test, each cattle was weighted on an empty stomach again. The results showed that:The nitrogen and phosphorus intake of the test group B were the highest, but there was no significant difference between each group(P > 0.05).The nitrogen deposition in group B test cattle to an average of 45.85 g·d-1,57.24% and 49.79%significantly higherthan that of group A and Crespectively(P < 0.05),The nitrogen utilization ratio of group B increased significantly than group A and group C(P < 0.05).The nitrogen emissions in group A> group C > group B,the Sedimentary and apparent digestibility ofphosphorusin group B > group A > C group, but all had no significant difference between each group(P > 0.05).Aloe powderadded in the diet make the apparent digestibility of dry matter in group B and group C were significantly higher than group A(P < 0.05),but the NDF,ADF,CP apparent digestibility and apparent digestive energy all had no significant difference between each group(P > 0.05).Group B had the highest average daily feed intake, but there were no significant differences between group A and group B(P > 0.05).The average of daily gain of the experimental cattle in group A,group B and group C were 0.72 kg·d-1,1.09 kg·d-1,0.91kg·d-1respectively,there were significant difference between group A and group B(P < 0.05)and no significant difference between group A and group C.The minimumfeed-weight ratio was group C,and were extremely significant difference with group A or group B(P < 0.01).In short, appropriate doses of Aloe powderwas added in diet can improve the growth performance of beef cattle and get a significant reduction in enteric methane emissions.Aloe powderwas a kind of plant additives can effectively inhibit the enteric methane emissions of beef cattle.
