Study On Carbon Storge Fixed By Young Eucommi Ulmoides Trees In Orchard-like Sytem On Sandy Soil

Abstract/Summary:
Eucommia ulmoiudes Oliv.is an excellent natural rubber resources,and also the great medicinal plant.It has a wide distribution and large planting area in China,was an important national strategic resource.In order to know the carbon sink in Eucommia plantation,a young orchard-like system of Eucommia located in the area formerly flooded by the Yellow river in city of Yuanyang has been studied.A growth regression was used for estimating the carbon storage of Eucommia ecosystem from one years old to four years.The results showed that:The trees in plantation growing speed were similar,coefficient of variation of ground diameter and tree height were at a lower level.Four years later,the single tree biomass increased from 0.678±0.104 kg to 11.558±1.382 kg.The model as W=aDbHc was used for calculating the biomass.From one year to four years age of stand,the biomass were.804±0.041 t·hm-2、3.016±0.130 t·hm-2、8.100±0.207 t·hm-2 和14.901±0.521 t·hm-2,respectively.Increasing with age,the proportion of stem and leaves in total biomass were reducing,however,the proportion of stem and leaves have increased.Soil carbon content in the middle soil layer were higher than in top layer and bottom layer,and increasing with age growth.The maxims of soil carbon content were found in layer between 30cm and 45cm.The ecosystem carbon storage were 34.05 t hm"2 at one year old and 57.46 t·hm-2 at four years old.The proportion of carbon storage in plant have been increasing with age growth,meanwhile,the proportion for soil was decreasing.
