In recent years, the rapid development of engineering construction has brought many problems to the environment. The exposed side slope is extremely prone to natural disasters.Traditional slope protection engineering not only has high cost and poor visual effect, but also seriously destroys the ecological environment. Therefore, ecological slope protection project emerges as the times require.Among them, vegetation concrete slope protection technology integrates the advantages of engineering slope protection and ecological slope protection. The plant root system is regarded as reinforced fiber. After the plant roots pass through the concrete slab and come into contact with the soil, due to the reinforcement effect of root fiber,it can effectively reduce soil and water loss, beautify the environment, and help to restore the ecological balance of the slope. This dissert took carex,a herbaceous plant,as the research object, and analyzed the characteristics of root fiber length, diameter and distribution morphology of carex through field collection.A series of experiments were conducted to study the related properties of root fiber soil.It is of great practical significance to promote the practical application of the ecological slope protection engineering. The conclusion is as follows:Through the tensile test of root fiber,it was found that the larger the diameter or length of root fiber was,the greater the tensile strength was.The tensile strength of double root fiber was about 2 times of that of single root fiber. And the tensile strength of air-dried root fiber was higher than that of soaking water treatment.Through the direct shear test of root fiber soil,it was found that the content of root fiber, treatment mode, distribution form and soil moisture content had effects on the shear resistance of root fiber soil.It has obvious influence on cohesion, but it has less influence on internal friction angle. The addition of root fiber significantly improved the shear performance of root fiber soil.In addition, according to the root-soil mechanics model, the calculation of the shear performance of the root fiber under different distribution forms was performed, and the theoretical values were in good agreement with the experimental values. From the variable water head penetration test of the root fiber soil,it was found that the higher the content of root fiber, the stronger the permeability of root fiber soil. The permeability of air-dried root fiber soil is higher than that of water-immersion treatment. The higher the moisture content of the soil, the lower the permeability coefficient,The permeability of root fibers under different distribution forms depends on the length of the infiltration path.Through the indoor disintegration of root fiber soil,it was found that the more the content of root fiber, the stronger the resistance of root fiber soil to water immersion and disintegration. The longer the fiber length of the root system, the slower the disintegrationspeed; When the root fibers are distributed in different ways, the root fibers have different resistance to disintegration. The order of arrangement of the fibers from large to small is: A glyph>Herringbone>Biased shape>Vertical shape.
